Underclassmen submit names for NFL draft evaluation

Missouri coaches typically encourage underclassmen who are eligible for the upcoming NFL draft to submit their names to the league’s draft advisory committee, which projects where the player will be selected in the draft. This year, at least four MU players — defensive ends Aldon Smith and Jacquies Smith, quarterback Blaine Gabbert and tight end Michael Egnew — have initiated that part of the process.
“A bunch of guys had to fill out the paperwork,” Gabbert said, “just to see where everybody ranks.”
Aldon Smith, a redshirt sophomore, brushed off questions about leaving Missouri early for the NFL. Underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to officially enter the draft.
