There are some notable UDFAs with an opportunity to make the Dallas Cowboys roster.
By LP Cruz Jun 5, 2024

The Dallas Cowboys will return to Oxnard, CA, at the end of next month. Yearly, the Cowboys unearth a gem in the undrafted free agent market following the NFL draft, and the diamond in the rough leaves an impression on the fans and coaches throughout the summer. Examples over the years have included Cole Beasley, Tony Romo, Terence Steele, and most recently, Juanyeh Thomas and Markquese Bell. This year’s group of undrafted free agents have a few candidates who could separate themselves from the pack and play their way onto this year’s team. Here are four undrafted free agents that could make the team.

Byron Vaughns, DL, Baylor
Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE, Minnesota
Emany Johnson, S, Nevada
Julius Wood, S, East Carolina

Ford has a chance, but he really needs to improve his hands and concentration. I don't think he will beat Stephans out for a roster spot, so he will need to convince them to keep 4.

The other three I dont see making it. We are deep at S. I don't think Vaughns would be Wheat for a spot if there was one open

I can see them making the practice squad barring an injury to guys ahead of them.

I realize a lot of these stories come from somewhere else but I think they all have an equal shot but I'd go with the running back I really like to see what this guy's got especially in preseason games because it running back is probably biggest question mark is who's going to rotate and how and is our coach going to be able to utilize them properly but I'll be watching for this guy who reminds me of Tony Pollard to make this team because they're probably going to possibly cut guys I mean they're not bringing Malik Davis back I don't believe and then the free agent they brought in the veteran Royce whatever his name is he could be a bubble guy so I'd look for youth and the guy who's got some speed some wiggle kind of looks like another Tony Pollard to me he could be a steal because we didn't get him in the fourth round but you can't really know the running backs until you see them in a live game and I'm looking forward just seeing him play in active games so we can see what he can really do even if it's against preseason competition....

And by the way I haven't heard from any of those guys except for the TEs and yes, he seems to be everyone's pet cat little baby overrated like Rico you remember the TE that was supposed to be the next AGates LOL you remember Kamara HN pet cat lmao.

and also, what about the wide receiver? those 3 i highlighted are bigger needs and will get more chances to make the team IMHO./.but hey we shall see.. This is what truly the offseason and all these camps and preseason are all about it's the draft picks and the undrafted free agents they get the show themselves I don't care if the veteran see a single snap I want to see you at any of these 12 to 15 guys we added through the draft undrafted free agency and a couple from free agency.

  • RB Nathaniel Peat, Missouri √
  • WR Cam Johnson, Northwestern
  • WR Corey Crooms, Minnesota √
  • TE Brevyn Spann-Ford, Minnesota√
  • TE Alec Holler, UCF
  • DE Byron Vaughns, Baylor
  • DE Denzel Daxon, Illinois
  • LB Jason Johnson, UCF
  • LB Brock Mogensen, South Dakota
  • S Emany Johnson, Nevada
  • S Julius Wood, East Carolina
  • S Josh DeBerry, Texas A&M

It seems we have plenty of TEs and Safeties but we are thin at every other position. It should be the other way around.

I got BS-F as the only UDFA to make the 53.
Will the Staff keep a 6th WR or a 4th TE? I think Stephens Jr. development could effect the decision.

At this point Dline is most likely a given unless we trade for someone. Ford has the best chance of actually earning a spot. I think we are too deep at safety, so unless we trade someone or someone gets hurt, I will be difficult to crack the safety group.

Historically we only throw the ball to 1 TE. We also over value blocking and desperately need to fix our run game. So Ford has a legit shot at making it.

exactly I think he's underrated if this coaching staff will give him a shot he sure reminds me of Tony Pollard and we got Tony in the fourth round....

This was an incredibly weak UDFA class for the Cowboys (something they normally dislocate their shoulders trying to pat themselves on the back for). The Minnesota TE has the only real chance and that's mainly because they absolutely blew it with the Schoonmaker reach.

The other TE (John Stephens, Jr) who should make the team, was a really good UDFA pick up from 2023.

Juanyeh Thomas looks like a future starter from the 2022 UDFA class. I think Markquese Bell is overrated by many here.
