I was just curious, since I couldn't remember anyone attempting 66 passes in a game before, so I looked it up. Seems this is the second most ever in a playoff game. In fact, Brady has 6 of the top 25 games with the most passes in the playoffs. Big Ben threw 68 in 2021. Drew Bledsoe has the regular season record with 70. I had to dig a little further to see if the teams won when passing so often, and only 5 of the top 25 passing attempts resulted in a win.

It's one of the weirdest stats I've ever seen. The top 4 won their game, and 19 of the next 20 lost (regular season only).

Perhaps. Seems like they gave up on the run really quickly. The Cowboys didn't get rolling until their third possession.
Tampa was the worst rushing offense in the league. Finished at the bottom in rushing attempts, rushing yards, yards per carry and rushing touchdowns, so it isn't surprising they gave up on the run early. It is kind of what they do.

This. Throwing the ball a zillion times has been Tampa's game plan for at least two years. They use Brady quick-hitters as a substitute for rushing.

With San Francisco’s number one rushing attack, Brock Purdy won’t be attempting nearly as many passes. We’re going to be seeing a lot of Christian McCafferty and Deebo. They’re going to get real physical with us. They know exactly what our kryptonite is.

But White averaged 5.9 yards per rush, yet they only gave him the ball 7 times. And we saw that the Houston run game was effective in controlling the Cowboys even though it didn't gain a lot of yards (114) for the number of carries (37). It at least kept the Cowboys from pinning back their ears and attacking the QB every play, and it ended up being a close game. Jacksonville and Washington's running game also had a big effect against the Cowboys. I feel like throwing as often as Brady did gives the Cowboys defense a chance to make impact plays.
