Very few of them left ...... but man listening to those guys is a real treat.

Real men ..... they laughed at post war stress.

Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt:

And it still does...

Thanks to everyone who served, not only then and there, but everywhere.

Also to note, this is also my grandfathers birthday. He would have been 91 today. :( Miss you gramps!

Those guys were real men but they had post war stress just like every other group of soldiers who ever saw all the evil that war is.

My Uncle was to. My Mothers older brother was stationed on the USS Arizona. He's still there.

Frankly from what I learned from my father and uncle, who both saw a fair amount of action, and others over the years, after the war everyone was so busy getting on with their lives that that really helped them get over it. And frankly they were a lot tougher back then. That was a generation that had lived through a REAL depression, without the safety net we have today. They had been toughened up before the war, and had no illusions about it.

They mostly did not talk about it; mainly because they felt no need. But I was lucky enough to attend reunions of many groups over the years- they talked with each other, but not with those who had not been there.

PTSD was unknown back then; and frankly I think a lot of vets just plain refused to let it get to them. In these touchy feely times, people are not as strong. Or as hard.

I thank the vets that serve from any generation.

They are all great in their own ways.

I know you are joking...but I honestly don't find it funny.

I think it belittles all that have put their lives on the line to serve this great country. I know that is not your intent, but that is my opinion.

I'm confused? You think it belittles all the vets if we thank and honor those from the WWII era on a day like this?

What did I miss in this thread?

EDIT: Oh wait. Are you just talking about Zrin's joke?
