A&M students take a stand against SEC policy

I really think West Virginia might be the best team in the Big XII next year even with their defensive issues. OU lost a lot and they have underachieved the last few years. In fact, because the Big XII could be so down next year both WVU and TCU may very well finish in the top 2-3. No reason to think anyone but OU will provide a ton of competition, and this coming from someone who doesnt even expect TCU to compete longterm in the Big XII. I just can't see Texas, Baylor or Tech being any good next year. KSU won't pull out 8 close games again next year and ISU and Kansas will be awful again. OSU will probably be competative but lose like 80% of their offensive starts from last year and will have an entirely new offensive line, QB and receivers.

I have to admit, it would be pretty funny/cool to watch WVU come in and crash the party right off the bat. And nobody crashes a party like WVU fans I hear.

I was thinking VT did that in their first year in the ACC but I could be wrong.

Right? Crazy talk like Peas over Fried Fish in the SEC will get you kicked into the ACC.

Not gonna happen. I'd put money on it. They will eventually contend, I have no doubt but not next year.

Why not? They are essentially the same type of team with the same offensive scheme OSU had last year and they won the conference. No defense isnt a recipe for failure in the Big XII most years, and anybody who can put up 40-50 PPG on major conference schools has a chance.

I suspect TCU will be about like they were in the SWC... Middle of the pack, with the occasional pop up near the top when everything comes together. But they'll probably still be a tough out for the better teams.

And this may hurt them in the immediate future. Apparently there was some big drug sting there, and some football players were involved. This is dealing, not just using.

TCU was traditionally a bottom feeder in the SWC. Between 1970 and 1995 they beat Texas, A&M and Arkansas a COMBINED TOTAL of three times. They finished dead last something like 18 of those 26 seasons.

However, I agree they will usually be middle of thepack in a real conference. However, the Big XII won't be very strong as a whole next year.

Big 12 had 6 teams in the top 25 (counting WV and TCU) Texas just outside of the top 25. I think Big 12 will be in good shape next year and very competitive even without A&M.

Which is why I said "next year".

Baylor loses Robert Griffin. They'll be back to a 4-6 win program.

OSU loses Weeden, Blackmon, four of five offensive line starters, three of four secondary starters and their All-American kicker/punter. Even if the replacements are all solid it's never good to bet on a team with that many young, new starters.

OU will be good.

Kansas State was an anomaly. They won 8 games by less than a touchdown and trailed at some point in the fourth quarter in 6 of those games. No way they can play with fire and come out on top that many times again.

Well that is your point of view. We will see how it plays out.

No comment, will let aggies stick foot in mouth as usual and snicker.

i dont know what you guys are talking about with WVU, they are good, but come on! as a longhorn it pains me to say this but i think OU is going to be by far the best team in the conference. They returned landry jones and most every starter from a team that was ranked #1 in the preseason next year. they got rid of benables (who i always felt was no good) and replaced him with the one of the other stoops (who was great at OU before)

Hate to say it, but OU is going to be by far the best team, and talent wise, only texas comes close. problem is, we dont have a QB and they have one of the best in the country

this thread got highjacked, maybe we should start a preseason big 12 thread?

No kidding. They finally crawled their way out of the shadow of the University of Texas and don't yet realize they're walking into a cave within the SEC.

Now there's how to identify an expert...

"It's like a giant church-camp where everyone is the exact same."

:laugh2: :laugh1: :lmao2: Holeeee cow.

"They are such cry-babies down there."

Objecting to a 50-yo tradition being trashed is favor of a pointless conference seating policy is hardly cry-babying. I'm not going to pretend A&M to the SEC was anything resembling an intelligent move for the Aggies, but, believe it or not, this is less of a waste of time than the student gov't's usual agenda.

Feel better there, buddy? Thanks for proving my point. Look how butthurt you got. LMAO.

You need to learn distinguish between mad (which I wasn't) and laughing at how nonsensical your comment was (which I was).

Right. I stand by my statement. It's a ****ing middle-class church camp.

The SEC will give into tradition eventually just like they did with MSU's cowbells and LSU's number of night games requirement. We'll be playing Florida on national TV in primetime with the student body in full voice in their usual position to kick off SEC play in September. Meanwhile, the Big XII-2-1+1-1+1 will kick off with a riveting matchup in the land of Oz between TCU and Kansas on the Versus Big Whatever Network sponsored by Wendy's or some ****.

LSU played no night game against an SEC opponent this year. CBS basically didn't want it so it didn't happen.
