The Cowboys came out of the 2024 gate showing a model of what is needed to win multiple playoff games, not just regular season games. It wasn’t flashy or perfect. But it was a complete team win by doing these things:
  • Playing well in all 3 phases of the game - offense, defense and special teams.
  • Winning the turnover battle 2-0.
  • Playing as a team; Not a collection of individuals.
  • Well conceived and executed game plan that was able to help a rookie LT adequately handle the 2023 DPOY.
The most impressive thing of course is the bottom line - a W.

I’m always amazed after a win, how many fans point to stats and say, “We only had ____ yards”. Again, we got the DUB. That Cleveland defense is very good. And they were able to limit the Cowboys to less than 300 yards. Cle was 8-1 last year on that field. They beat Joe Burrow and the bengals 28-3 last year in the opener at Cleveland. Winning there yesterday was impressive.

Again, stats don’t tell the story yesterday. That TD pass Dak threw to Brandin Cooks against an all out blitz in the first half was as impressive as it gets in this league. There are not many QBs in this league who can make that play.

I‘m celebrating a great win today hoping this team learned something about itself. And remembering that each week is a new challenge. Yesterday was about 5.8% of the 2024 season. Go Cowboys!

Yes it was, lots of room for improvement from coaches and payers for the next game. nice to win and realize you still have work to do.. i got to say all those narratives like our starters need to pay in preseason to not have slow start, 2 years in a row that WRONG, we can't play on the road on grass against good to great defenses...

Overall nice win. Brutal schedule to start though, these get tougher the next 3 weeks..

Spot on. While a lot of posters scoffed at the Zimm hire, it could be move the key move that gets this team finally over the top. He’s coached a lot of football since his last stint here. LB’s running to the football was a welcome change.

If they are 3-1 after NY I’d be happy.

I fully expect a loss to the ravens and a win against the giants, NO could go either way.

If somehow they got to 4-0 then I would say they are a contender based on first quarter of play

Every game will be tough. Unlike college FB, the NFL is so close because the talent gaps between the best and worst teams are not that far.

Offense needs to be far more efficient than they were. Too many field goals and missed opportunities. I thought Dak looked great in the first half but was confused by the halftime changes made by the Browns defense. Dude needs to get better at in game adjustments.

One of the most impressive things about yesterday’s win is having a defense stifle an opponent so that the offense (also playing against an outstanding defense) did not have to have a lights out statistical day.

That is the kind of game you need to win playoff games.

that's why the moving pieces are important like Mazi, Phillips, and Joseph enabling them to do so.. that is Zim bring in all that beef to help the Lbers..they maybe older and cheap BUT it worked yesterday, nice rotation up front from the fatty's,,

I just meant the competition itself is getting turned up each week. I see the first quarter being tougher than the middle part given the road games vs home. that makes them tougher with travel and road type atmospheres make it harder. I noticed that as soon as the schedule dropped.

Agreed.

Brother CC, glad to see you still here. Don't leave as you recently said you would. This is a very good Cowboys team. We need all fans here posting their thoughts (good or bad) and their support.

All three phases of the game contributed to it. Which is rare.

We were sloppy but then with how little work virtually all the offensive skill players got in preseason is no surprise.
Play calling was not too bad; but I hope the run every first down was because of this because we better not keep doing it through the season.

What ticked me off was all the penalties: 11 for 85 yards. In a tight game that could make the difference and we need to work on it.

The O line needs more reps but were better than I had feared; Garrett was not much of a factor. Guyton had a couple of bad plays but overall better than one should really expect.
Beebe was real good; also better than I expected.

It was good to see Diggs back. And Overshown looks like he may live up to the hype. Kendricks is fitting in nicely. Good signing especially considering he knows Zim’s defense. Micah is still Micah. Also think we could have a couple of players in Carson and Kneeland.

Aubrey is a stud and Turpin showed he can be a dangerous returner.

Offense is about the same, but with two rookies on the OL who should keep getting better. Like last year though, Lamb is really our only true weapon. Cooks and Fergie are solid. Main critic is we are still lacking at WR behind Lamb/Cooks and dont have a true legit RB.

Overall though it was a good win and on the road, better than what I expected.

And I would also remind all of us that what happens in one game is not a guarantee for every game. As great as yesterday’s performance was, every single game is unique. Matchups are different.

But we can all certainly enjoy that win in Cle with gusto. While also remembering one game among 17 is about 5.8% of the season, lol.

Yesterday was a total beatdown. Anyone have issues with the team's or individual player stats and not focus on the scoreboard likely never played sports.
