Yes, mates, I have long railed about the slow and aging Witten.
And the oft-injured Lee.
After a long talk with a friend, I examined my negativity about those two veterans.
I've been impatient with Witten because it seemed, to this handsome and deep-thinking bloke, that he was over the hill and maybe slow --- and certainly in the way of younger TE's on the roster.
As to Lee. The injuries. Always the injuries. Playing 60% of the time (if that).
But, louts, is it really Witten's fault of being consistent? Being a consistent security blanket to Romo, then Dak? Is it his fault for being productive and not spectacular? His fault for father time's reminders of mere mortalism?
Is it Lee's fault for being oft injured? Maybe by hustling on the field and trying to compensate for a poor defense, he has overextended his limbs.
In both cases, certainly not for lack of effort.
Too, those two, like other Cowboys, have been good citizens. What parents would not entrust their kids to a football camp led by these upstanding men? And Jerry and Jason have
NEVER fretted about picking up the morning gazette and reading about Witten or Lee involved in cap-slapping their mom, or fighting outside a nightclub or resisting arrest.
What sealed the new deal with the these two veterans was Dez's recent comments about Witte, Lee and others being Garrett Guys and wearing a "C".
Ya know, ruffians, if Dez doesn't like them, maybe that is a badge of honor.
From this critic, no more unnecessary shots at Witten or Lee. They put in a good effort. That should count for something.
What say you, Fan Forum fans and maybe critics?
