A little different version of our national anthem. Pretty cool.

Someone sent this to me. I know nothing about the band, mainly because I don't follow the music scene at all, but I thought this version of our national anthem was pretty cool.

I've seen this around and absolutely hate it :laugh2:

I like the instrumental, but I think the singer is awful. Tries way to hard to hit that grunge sound. Reminds me of Staind, who I can't stand.

Sorry you did not like it. A buddy in the army sent it to me and said it is very popular with his guys. I know next to nothing regarding music after about 1995 or so. I think most of the music out today is garbage, so I am the last one to judge voice quality, but I liked this particular version of the anthem.

I liked it. I've never heard of these guys but I will probably check them out. I almost never like anybody changing the Anthem but this, I have to say, this I liked.

It's always a nice touch, when the lead singer has a HAND GRENADE molded onto his mic-stand while singing The Star Spangled Banner.

I kind of liked it too, even though I never like people putting their own spin on the NA.

Someone on this board put it this way and I agree, .. sing the Anthem the way it was written and supposed to be sung, .. don't turn it into your audition or something.

Show the song the respect it deserves.

Do your own stuff at other times.

I generally feel the same way, but this one hit me a little differently. The fact that a friend serving overseas sent it to me and that he and his fellow soldiers were good with it made it more OK for me.

I read where you posted that earlier in this thread.

That had no impact with me. A lot of younger kids are serving, and a lot of younger kids nowadays don't share the traditional respect for the NA that older Americans do.

So the fact that they would like this version is not surprising to me. It is cool, so it is something that would appeal to the younger kids.

I wondered if the reason I was able to warm up to this version, (I normally don't like messing with the NA) was because they were singing it by themselves in a studio, .. and not trying to "show off" their band while singing it at a live sporting event.

I think that is partly why I could appreciate what they were doing.

The lead singer is a Vet. He was a Navy Corpsman. I believe their lead Guitarist is an Immigrant from the Ukraine, moved to the U.S. when he was a boy.

That's interesting.

Thanks for posting that JB.
