A little Easter egg was planted in the blowout

As the Cowboys were blowing the Vikings off of their own field yesterday the Cowboys made a move that could tell us what the Cowboys are planning to do down the road. The Cowboys put Peters in the game at left tackle (ya ya I know I know they wanted to get him some playing time) but they also kept Tyler Smith in the game and put him in at left guard where he got about 25 snaps. Now they really didn't need him in the game, however, when Tyron Smith comes back and yes he will return possibly after the Thanksgiving day game it will most likely be Smith and Smith with Connor McGovern (but he'll play FB on short yardage) on the bench. A little foreshadowing if you ask me but we'll see.

It was and I was expecting them to make this change during the bye week and have Peters at the full time left tackle until Smith does come back. Get the rookie ready to play G for the rest of the season. They have taken a different apporach but they are preparing for the return to Smith to LT.

When and if Tyron Smith does return, he needs to be plugged into the LG spot. Tyler Smith has done a great job this year and doesn't deserve to be shuffled around on the line of scrimmage. With the big fella at LG, he could add years to his career because it's a less punishing position and it may able him to stay healthy!

McGovern has improved though; maybe he can slide over to center?

Yeah they were talking about it on BTB post game. It seems they are paving the way for Tyron Smith's return.

I honestly believe they will make the switch regardless. I think Peters has shown if Tyron can’t stay healthy, the best 5 has Peter’s at LT and Tyler S at LG. I think ideally it’s Tyron and Tyler, but Peter’s and Tyler might be better than Tyler and McGovern

It is hard to get excited about this Easter egg since Tyron rarely stays healthy. The downside is that it upsets the flow of the line.
Normally I would agree about flow, but we are not flipping the RT to LT. We are getting a rook some time at the position he played the majority of his time in PS in anticipation of a Hall of Famer coming back. Very different than last year.

The problem is the O-line is playing well together, McGovern actually looks really good right now.

You play the best 5 but you are disrupting good chemistry

Ummmmmm - no. He’s NOT an OG and never will be. He’s built like an OT which is where he has been his whole career. And LG not as punishing as LT? LOL.

I swear, if Tyron Smith were a free agent (like OBJ), the same people who complain
about his injuries would be clamoring for Dallas to sign him.

I'll always be a fan of big ol' #77. Still a top 3 LT to me.
