With the regular season almost over, I think this year's quarterback play has been the worst it's been in a while, whether because of injury or just underperforming. Are there any surprises for you this season so far?

I fell for the AFC hype at QB coming into the season, but with injuries to Rodgers and Burrow. Add to the fact Herbert, Allen, Watson and Lawrence all underperformed big time. I'm not sure what's up with Lawrence and Herbert, but especially Herbert, I think next season he deserves way more heat on, and the Jaguars shouldve ran away with that division. Even Mahomes is not performing to his standards.

There's not many surprises in the NFC this season ,Nobody really expected much from the QB play in NFC, but I don't think many in the media expected to Hurts to struggle the way he has so far. Even though we lost these last two games Purdy and Dak are performing the best. I did think the Seahawks would perform a bit better than their record right now, but other than that most teams are where I'm expected them at. The NFC South might be horrible for a while, all their teams QB situations suck

If I'm Jacksonville, I have serious reservations about giving Lawrence a mega deal. He just hasn't been good enough. He is considered in that Manning/Elway tier. Both of those guys were top three QB's by the end of their third year.

I'd bet on Mahomes being in the thick of the MVP race again next year. They will find him his receiver etc. If Belichick goes to LA, I can see Herbert improving any more. I would take Allen before Lawrence.

AFC:

Mahomes
Burrow
Allen
Herbert
Lamar
Stroud
Lawrence

I think Herbert and Lawrence are interchangeable right now, but I think Herbert deserves more heat on him

Honestly this shows how good the previous generation QB really was. Back when Romo was playing he didn't sniff top 5 because of talent. Tom, Rodgers, Peyton, Brees where just a few that always got the nod over him. Right now...I think the only team who wouldn't take prime Romo is the Chiefs and MAYBE the Ravens.

These defenses seem to be catching up with these quarterbacks.

Yeah I disagree. Mike Vick was a top 10 QB and he can’t sniff Lamar.

Those statues like Peyton would’ve had a hard time though still be good.

Oh boy. Someone never watched Peyton Manning.
Because I said he’d still be good but have a harder time? To me Brady would be ok because he wasn’t mobile but he could move in the pocket. Him and Brees moved in the pocket better than anyone.

These defenses and players are so strong and quick

The second Peyton Manning said hike the ball was gone in less then 2.5 seconds. Quick thinking, accurate passer...no he wouldn't struggle at all today.

Against the blitz Mannings average release was 2.28 seconds...Mahomes...2.49 seconds. Like I said. Go enjoy some Manning highlights he was one of the best QBs to ever play.

I don't even think Lamar is having all that great a season tbh, especially not an MVP type season. He has 17 passing tds and 7 interceptions, 5 rushing tds. How in the world are those MVP numbers? I'm not saying you're calling him an MVP but I've heard his name mentioned and I think that just shows how poor QB play has been this season

I also agree that the league is catching up to these qbs, Tua is the leading passer and he barely hit over 4000 yards passing , every other other QB is still below 4k yards , the past seasons we had more 4k yard and even some 5k yard passers by this point in the season, and it's not from the lack of pass attempts

There was an article a month a go on how the zone defense with only rushing 4 has made it tougher on QBs this season. The same defense some clueless posters on her think only Dak has problems with.

The Bengals wouldn't take prime Romo, I don't think the Bills would either

That’s a good point.

Yeah I like Lamar and Hurts to a lesser extent but I can’t take them serious as MVP candidates with this type of stats.
