Cost of living, oy vey, it cost me $4.00 to travel four exits down the NJ Turnpike. Then another $1.50 down the line at the Garden State Parkway.

$400? Holy ****. I certainly avoid working in the city at all costs, but I didn't know it was that bad. Criminal.

Yup, and that doesn't include the ability to park at the train station.

Yeah. My current commute to NYC is $264/month for the train + $104/month for subway. Not quite $400, but $368 isn't far off.

Well if I payed for it the bus would cost me like $170 my Work picks up the bill. They offer free offsite parking and shuttle. It easier to take a nap on the Bus then to fight traffic especially since they are now working on the roads expanding them over the next few years.

I currently have an offsite parking spot and shuttle to work. Not because of incapacitating traffic but because of a lack of onsite parking, although they are expanding in a big way but that's a couple years out.

I absolutely hate it.

The shuttle drivers are so inconsistent I've almost snapped.

One in particular has made his trip to work and back more than twice as long as the other drivers, having him arrive to the pickup lot 7 minutes late multiple times in the last week alone when all the other drivers get there with 5 minutes to spare.

He has literally been lapped by the bus following him twice in the last week. How that is even possible on a commute as short as mine is unreal.

While in the Houston Medical center their is no place for parking really the ones their are used by the Doctors and patient unless you contract out a spot yourself at almost $300-$400 a month. The beauty of our shuttle it is just our Hospital so they contract out to a company so if a bunch employees complain they will not be driving the shuttle anymore. The shuttle are real nice I take them to get to the other buildings when I need to work on some remote servers hardware or a meeting over in those buildings. The parking garage offsite is owned by the Hospital on our property next to one of the buildings down the road.

My round trip commute to and from work is less than 4 miles. I spend about 15 bucks on gas a month :D

At some point, I plan on telecommuting so I will have you beat! :laugh2:

Actually, that is a lie. It's good to get out of the house sometimes. I'm not sure I want to telecommute unless it's only a couple of times a week max.

I had a six - seven mile round trip commute for years and it's awesome.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a house that I liked close to work so now my round trip is 20 miles with half of those miles on the highway. Overall it's still not too bad.
