While motivated to get two more victories and finish the season above .500, Dallas’ most important work will come this offseason. Wide receiver is one position that will command attention. Cooks will be a free agent and turns 32 next September, plus hasn’t been a high producer in Mike McCarthy’s offense. Even if change does come on the coaching side, Cooks just isn’t that attractive for re-signing in general.

That leaves Tolbert as the leading in-house candidate to join Lamb in the starting lineup. Over three years we’ve seen Tolbert make some amazing catches, including just last week against the Buccaneers, but he’s never had a huge individual game that inspires confidence about an increased workload. His career-best performance came last October against the Steelers; seven catches for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Without Lamb, they are EASILY the worst WR corp in the NFL…with Lamb, they are still bottom 5…been trash for a LONG time!!
Well that pretty keeps focus on failure alternatives, now doesn't it...try to watch the sport as it is developing today as well...

Think on effectiveness that is the full picture? How did they then produce among the tops in the NFL for the previous 3 seasons? The Ghost of Christmases Past?

And Parsons isn't the only impactful pass rusher the Cowboys have up front, as Osa Odighizuwa's 48 pressures puts him in the top four in total pressures amongst defensive ends. When on the field together, they've generated at least four pressures in six of the seven games they've played since Week 10 and combined for 12 sacks in those games too...

Micah Parsons is the key to all of it, as the Cowboys lead the league in turnovers (15) and sacks (28) since his return in Week 10. Additionally, the defense has generated a 32.3% pressure rate (10th in the NFL) when sending four or less pass rushers in that same timespan.

This game I'm paying attention to how much Parsons is held!

So, Cooks, Turpin, Tobin, Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Ford, and Dowdle mean absolutely nothing as to receiving footballs, huh?

I say throw some to them and just see if things don't improve.

1) Saquon Barkley continues his historic season, rushing for over 150 yards in a game for the fifth time this season

2) Jalen Tolbert takes advantage of an increased workload, recording the first 100-yard game of his NFL career

3) Trey Lance plays 20+ offensive snaps (if not close at start of 2nd half)

Hey, a game with both starting quarterbacks out...

Answer to this thread's question:

*Lose these last 2 games.
*Secure around 13-15th picking spot.
*Try to trade down either with Atlanta (19th spot), LA Chargers (20th spot) or LA Rams (23rd spot) and secure their 4th round pick as well.
*Use that traded down 1st round pick on a WR (preferably someone with speed, quickness, burst and playmaking ability at all 3 levels, plus a deep threat...someone like Texas WR Isaiah Bond)
*Use 2nd, 3rd and picked up 4th round picks on MLB, DT and RB in any particular order.

Problem solved.

Want a real mark against Jerry, as GM...here it is revealed:

The Cowboys come into today’s game against the Eagles with a 14-21 overall record in Week 17 contests.

Teams are unfocused and undisciplined. That is down to team fabric.
Sad but true. Plus, it has carried over into the playoffs for the previous 3 years in a row.

Dowdle currently averages just 64.5 yards per game, but that number is not indicative of his recent usage. He split carries exclusively with Ezekiel Elliott and sometimes Deuce Vaughn at the beginning of the season. It wasn’t until after QB Dak Prescott went down with injury that HC Mike McCarthy announced Dowdle would be the lead back and take the bulk of the carries.

The Buccaneers did a good job of bottling up the Cowboys run game. Dowdle managed just 23 yards rushing on 13 carries with DT Vita Vea clogging up running lanes. Before the Bucs game, Dowdle matched a feat not reached since Emmitt Smith back in the late 1990s.

Dowdle eclipsed the century mark in three consecutive games, averaging 131 yards per game to add his name to the Cowboys’ history books. Averaging just 48.5 yards rushing over the final two regular season games will make him the most recent player to accomplish that in a Cowboys uniform.

It was asked what happened to the run game last week? It was focused upon by TB and alternatives were focused upon - a great game by CD Lamb.

Defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis might have something to say about Dowdle reaching the milestone against their defense. No team wants other players to break records against them, and it’s surely no different for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In such a hated rivalry, the Eagles defense is going to be swarming to the ball, and stopping Dowdle from reaching 97 yards this coming Sunday is just added motivation. Philadelphia ranks 9th versus the run, allowing just a shade over 102 yards per game.

The Eagles do most of their damage against the pass, as evidenced by their #1 NFL ranking. If Dowdle wants to reach 97 yards this Sunday, the Cowboys will need a good gameplan to keep Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis from wrecking the line of scrimmage, and they will have to do it with All-Pro RG Zack Martin sidelined with injury.

This is why we watch games...not to cry and insult, but to watch internal fabric of next man up develop to value.

Outside of Turpin play & whereabouts.......a solid Defensive Coordinator will minimize the TEs in the game plan and apply pressure to our QB.

Notice you didn't mention Tolbert, Brooks, Flournoy and now Mingo......tells all that needs to be known.

Why would you be looking for sacks in a game, I believe is going to be running heavy on both sides, I'm literally not expecting a whole bunch of passing,

so we better go back to the linebacker room and the safeties and Mike Zimmer better be ready to bring in eight in the box and not let Saquon Barkley go off , that be there their main goal think about it think about Kelly Moore and the record that could be set against his old team against the Dallas Cowboys I mean that would probably be their goal with a backup quarterback I mean why would they throw a lot enough to you can get 5 sacks? I do not think they're gonna throw the ball a lot they may start out that way to hide that they're gonna run the ball 35 times they may throw the whole first series but I just see this thing settling in on both sides as a run heavy game it's gonna be cold damp etc

I wanna see Turpin have a career day at wide receivers so Brandon cooks is a starter we see Turpin is the number 2 you run a lot of 12 and 13 personnel use a lot of your tight ends let your tight ends just destroy their middle for the little passing I expect I wanna see Rico have a big day as well but I don't think the turning the bottom of the roster worried about these young receivers gonna determine anything in next year's roster at receiver 4,5, and 6..

I have a feeling if Brandon cooks leaves he probably is gonna leave but either way he'd be bumped to #3 if he stays I believe they're gonna draft a wide receiver that could possibly fill the number two spot and may do it in the first round BPA might end up being a wide receiver.... Either that there's rumors that they're gonna just get one older veteran out and cooks and get another guy in like Stefan diggs or somebody but I'd still be looking for a young guy in the draft and I hope they are like high in the 1st 2 days...

This could get ugly for the passing. Last time Rush faced the Eagles he recorded around 46 yards passing, sheesh, and thus time they're @Philly and without CeeDee. This would be the perfect time for one of these young WRs to step up and make some plays. Tolbert, Brooks, Mingo, and Flournoy...who will it be?

Sidenote: Eagles secondary has played well also with rookie CBs (1st n 2nd round picks). Throw multiple premium picks at the area of most need.
