The Dallas Cowboys made two trades this preseason for two former first round pick of other teams:
  1. 2021 3rd overall pick Trey Lance
  2. 2020 30th overall pick Noah Igbinoghene
The question I have, why is one the apparent future of the Cowboys, and the other has no real chance to step up to replace a injured starter?

I mean, I read that "there was a reasons the Dolphins gave up on a former 1st Rounder so quickly."

Yet I turn around and read "The chants for Lance could come this weekend."

So I may be wrong here, but didn't the 49ers took a bigger loss and give up more quickly on Lance than the Dolphins did for Noah?

Yet Lance can "easily" replace a "Top-15" starting QB, and the other can't even beat a backup to start in place of a starter who is out for the year?

Make it make sense. Thanks in advance.

The most popular player on a struggling team is the backup QB. The New Jersey Jets are trying to run Zach Wilson out of town of a rail and he was a first round pick. Who is even the back up for the Jets?

A change in schemes, etc can be beneficial to players from other teams. Historically, we've had players from other teams who have been great here. Time will tell with both these guys.

True. The Jets are reportedly signing Trevor Siemian. Not sure if its to the 53 or PS, but Zach has to be feeling the heat.

You should look up the Jets backup QB and look up his college numbers. I am not going to spoil it.

Lance is nothing but a minimum risk project at this point. He’s unlikely to be anything beyond a middling backup!

Unfortunately, when it comes to Lance, there are a lot of Anyone but Dak fans. I get Dak isn't elite, but he's top 10-15. Lance isn't that yet.
