If the Cowboys sign him to the offer sheet , as suspected, the Seahawks can take up to a week to match or decline, leaving the Cowboys on the sidelines in the meantime. They could take a whole week to match while other FA kickers could sign elsewhere, leaving us high & dry.

we can also recind the offer if we want to go another way.

since other kickers aren't flying off the shelves at this point, it isn't much of a risk

A whole entire week? Wow, I'm just so underwhelmed.

Well, that is a good point but like abersonc said we can recind the offer if we want. The deal is really simple, if we want Brown, we need to make an offer to him that Seattle won't match.

Yeah, it also helps that it has been reported that Seattle will match Hutchinson's deal from the Vikings, which makes Seattle's funds limited.

limited? more like completely expended

This is no wrinkle. All offers to restricted free agents gives a team the right to wait 7 days until a decision is made whether to sign or release him.

they should have signed him (Brown) to an offer sheet the day the Vikes announced they signed Hutchinson to his mega deal

but they sat on their hands instead

But David I could see the logic in waiting and seeing if the seabags match Hutch's contract because if they do their cap space becomes itsy-bitsy.

yeah, more being "re"-active instead of "pro" active by our organization...we do it on offense and defense, may as well do it in terms of personnel moves too I guess...always let the other guys dictate everything

instead of waiting and seeing what happens, had they signed the guy the day Hutchinson signed his deal you get Seattle thinking about what to do with two key parts and how to manage the cap situation both at the same time...
