I've been wondering about the term "accidental baby." I've never quite understood the term, but now I think I get it. Everyone knows that the stork delivers a baby. So maybe on Christmas Eve, the stork is flying with a baby to deliver, but it accidentally drops it and it falls down someone's chimney. There's no fire, since everyone is expecting Santa Claus, and when he gets there, he finds the baby in the fireplace, and brings it in, setting it down someplace comfortable, like on the couch. So then the couple wakes up and finds the surprise baby.
So that's what they mean by "accidental" or "surprise baby," right? It could also explain why sometimes a baby resembles a neighbor rather than its daddy. The stork was trying to deliver the baby to one house, but then accidentally dropped it down the chimney of their neighbor's house. Then they loved the baby, and so they didn't give it to the rightful house.
It's been tough to figure this stuff out. Babies are complicated, but at least now I know what an "accidental baby" is.
I'm really interested in these storks and babies, since it seems like a weird relationship. Aren't storks kind of stalkerish by necessity? They have to spy on a couple, a husband and a wife, making out passionately, and then the stork realizes they want a baby, so it goes and fetches one of them. That's one really smart bird, but I still feel uncomfortable about it spying on people.
It's a weird system, but other possibilities aren't much better. I heard that in some parts of the world, a baby grows in a cabbage patch, and then the parents have to retrieve it when it's ready. That's even more strange. The cabbage has to be smart enough to know when a couple wants a baby, so it starts growing one, and then the couple has to make sure to get it from the garden at just the right time, not too early or too late. I think I would rather trust the stork. At least it's an animal.
If anyone has any additional info about the origin of babies, do speak up. It's an interesting topic.
