There is a ton of A.I. generated music popping up all over YouTube mimicking dead artists. Everything from Nirvana, to 2Pac, to Jimmy Hendrix, to etc. etc.. I clicked into several of them, because of my curiosity, and I really expected to hate them. To my surprise, some of them are really good. I'm just struggling with the morality behind it.
On one hand, I love hearing something fresh "from" some of these artists. On the other hand, I wonder if this truly captures the spirit of who they were, or if it’s just pushing their legacy in a direction they never intended. It’s tough to fully embrace it, and I’m torn between wanting more and wondering if it’s right. Plus, if these tracks are mimicking the likeness of these artists and money is being made, should that revenue go to their original estate?
Ultimately, I suppose it's about how you feel their legacy should be preserved. If the new track resonates with you, maybe there's some merit to it? I don't know. Curious what you all think about it?
