Cowboys legend Troy Aikman will ‘never bet against’ Deion Sanders and bashes team culture, coaching job appeal

Aikman: “Well, I wouldn’t bet against him. I absolutely would never bet against Deion. I’ve just seen it too many times. ... He’s proven that he’s earned the opportunity. So if he lands the job in Dallas, if that ultimately is what happens, or if he goes somewhere else within the NFL or even in the college ranks, I mean, he’s earned that opportunity.

“I don’t know if I’d look at anyone and say it’s necessarily a great fit. I just think there’s a lot of hurdles. And so it may not be a great fit for anyone, but if Deion were to come on board, I think he’d be fantastic. I think you would relate exceptionally well to the locker room. It’s amazing that for someone who’s as far removed from having played the reverence that these current players have for his career and what he was as a player. It’s pretty remarkable, and it says a lot for him. So I think he’d be fantastic no matter where he is. And as you guys have heard me say, I’m a big fan, and I would never bet against him.”

All of the PLAYERS get it but all these so called fans are worried more about the media attention Prime would bring instead of the actual COACH he would be

Of all the Cowboys players from that era, Deion is about the last one I would have expected to be head coach of the team one day. But I guess given who the owner and GM is, it kind of fits.

I think I am on the Prime Time Train.
Many fans believe it does not matter who is the HC. Jerry will not allow them to succeed. I believe some want that anyway.
But it would be funny with the melt downs if he is named HC.

Just bring in a young innovative OC, and DC. Get a strong staff in place.
Agreed, JC. The players would hate Deion at first because they are going to get practiced hard and disciplined right away. Any slackers will get called out and punished by Deion. They will eventually start doing things his way which would ultimately make them better players.

The problem is Jerry. Will he give Deion full reign or would he step in and baby protect these underachieving and undisciplined players? It's probably what Deion is trying to figure out and get a concession from Jerry or not before making a decision.

Right. The way Deion cleared out Colorado when he first arrived there was reminiscent of Jimmy circa 1989.

The only players I remember Jimmy keeping were Jim Jefffcoat and Bill Bates.

What's crazy is he and Deion didn't get along as teammates, especially during Switzer's Super Bowl season. But guess who was one of the first ex-teammates to show up to Deion's Jackson State practice?

Jerry is too cheap and petty to allow Deion to bring in a big staff without putting in his worthless 2 cents.

Deion is confident and a winner, I will take that over tepid and quiet any day. This is not an accounting firm here…..
