If anyone is interested. Information is a bit dated, but he seems well grounded. There's also an "Ask Akin" section.

Evidently Dallas is looking at age as a factor instead of going out and signing older players, which also shows Bill is not looking to win at all cost today but trying to put a team in place that will be around for a while.

He is trying to win now, make no mistake about it.

I'm not saying he is not trying to win but he is not going out and getting high priced players with 10 years in the league just so we can win today. Adding guys like Koiser and Akin are guys that have a chance to stay with the Cowboys for sometimes instead of 1 or 2 years.

Exactly...these are the type of signings we need...will help now, AND for the next 5+ years down the road. He is now trying to upgrade our base/core players that will be here for years...I like!

I'm not big on Akin, but he would not be a bad signing either. If he comes at a fair price bring him in...don't want to overpay when we can resign Fujita and try and land Lawson or Wimbley.

He's a good kid - I never disputed that. I'm just not excited about him.

I'm not going to get overly excited either until I see these guys playing together. Seems each year in FA many of us make a big deal out of the signing and when it does not happen it becomes a big let down. Dallas appears to be going after some guys they feel fit good in our system but the proof is on the field.

I hear he is a great character.
He won the Walter Payton Award of Excellence last year.

I really thought this would generate more interest with the ladies on the board. Seems as if at least Akin thinks he is a pretty boy....

I've heard arguments of him being OLB or ILB next to Bradie....

My first instinct is OLB without a doubt, but the more I think the more I'm not convinced of that. HE's 6'2/250 and quick...not fast, but quick. To me that would be a great fir inside next to James. This kid has 131/150 tackles the last two years...he's a sure tackler and has played both strong and weakside LB's positions. If we signed this kid to play inside next to Bradie James and kept Burnett on the outside and drafted another OLB I think we'd be in great shape. Most think becuase he was a DE in college we automatically throw him as an OLB...i'm not so sure about that.

I can see him being a stud inside, but have some concerns about him as olb...JMHO.
