How did Rice look on game film?

To begin – – he didn’t catch any of the first seven passes he was targeted on, against Cincinnati.

He was best at catching wide receiver bubble screens overall, but he couldn’t pick up much yardage after the catch either.

Watching him on his release, it didn’t look explosive and he did a poor job of achieving route leverage against corners. His running looked labored and it looked like he wasn’t even running his routes at full speed. Bottom line, it looked plain lazy.

While his best routes at the intermediate level were outs and comebacks, he tended to have a whale of a time creating a lot of separation (no burst) and he showed no fight on contested passes.

High-pointing the ball was another issue.

I was excited about him heading into the Sr bowl but got disappointing reviews.

Came in shorter than expected and struggled to get off press and separate.

Hard, hard pass in the 1st and maybe even 2nd.

Not good, he was one I do like, based on what I have seen/read, but this is very discouraging and makes the class even worse in my opinion. Much rather address our need via fa or the draft and take a flyer on one in day 3

I watched most all the SMU games and honestly I'm not sure anywhere in first or second rounds. My thoughts were third round and he want be there so Cowboys probably want to to consider.

There are some decent WRs in this draft; they're just not our prototypical type of big, strong and fast guys...

As I was just saying about corners, this team is very specific on certain traits they seek for particular positions. You would think they draft the best players not the ones with the best physical traits

There are far more Caleb McSurdy types than Alexander Wright types in college.

McSurdy: Excellent college player that didn't have NFL physical ability.

Wright: 6-0, 200, 4.2 forty (maybe 4.1) but no clue how to play football and hands of stone.

Cowboys should look into diversifying the WR group, too many guys the same size and speed. Get a tall guy, get a shorter, quick speedy guy in the slot. Rice is the same type of WR they already have pass, and do something different.

Yup. He's basically jalen tolbert

He also has issues with beating press coverage. He is not a first round talent IMO.
