Looking at alternatives, if Farley is off the board. First looking at some Offensive Lineman. The likes of Slater, Darrisaw and Vera-Tucker are all considered the next best OL prospects after Sewell.

Vera-Tucker is a nice alternative then drafting Slater and picking up more picks. It is my understanding that Tucker is more of an interior prospect on the NFL Level, but would have the ability to spot start at Tackle if needed. Any USC fans here that can give me more insight on this player?

Alijah Vera-Tucker has aligned predominantly at left tackle this season for the Trojans offense. He has exceptional athleticism, as evidenced by his balance and body control in his pass set. He is an easy mover who demonstrates his athleticism in the passing game, particularly in his kick slide. He plays with very good competitiveness when he is bull rushed. In the run game, he comes off the ball hard to strike and he excels by getting his body in favorable positions. He’s played this year at left tackle, affording him much more value due to his ability to play that position in a pinch at the next level.

Ideal Role: Starting left guard in the NFL.

Scheme Fit: A zone blocking scheme would suit this player’s skill set. However, he is athletic enough to adapt to any scheme.

I think dallas will have options between the following
Farley,
Surtain
Parsons
Pitts
Slater

I think if those 5 are gone, then we can trade down and get vera tucker, if we are really high on him.

Doing a lot of this mock simulations, many of the trade down scenarios are in that 18-25 range, where many of those 1st rd graded player will be all gone. Landing a player like Vera-Tucker with additional 2nd/3rd rd picks makes the trade back worth the risk.

Did I misread that or are you talking about at 10?

Obviously they can't do that.

I honestly want to fix safety so badly that I'm warming up to Moehrig at 10 if Farley is gone.

I dont care about perceived media "value" at this point. I want a stud safety, not value.

Don't want to hear about not getting him or Grant because they didn't fall into where all the expert mocks said they ought to.

No Vera-Tucker would be a trade back target to obtain more picks, no not at 10, lol

AVT is a good player, not top 10 good somewhere in the late teens early 20's.
I think he could be a good OT, but where he should line up is at LG especially in a zone running scheme.
Wouldn't hate the pick if we moved back, but I think for what we need I wouldn't go this route.
This is from a USC guy.

USC has some players this year that I think can make a huge jump with good development.
Tufele opted out, most people are mocking in the 2nd, but I think he can be had in the 3rd rd. The dude could be a very good player.

Amon Ra-St. Brown this guy is an alpha who will outwork anyone on the team the day he steps foot in the building. Guy is jacked, and is a Steve Smith SR type of dog mentality on the field. His dad is a former MR Universe, brother plays for the Packers, and little brother will be in the league sometime soon so the bloodlines are there.

Marlon Tuipolotu is a guy that had a huge start to the season, but kind of fell off later in the season. Very strong, has good quickness to his game, but a back injury as a sophomore might drop him down to a day 3 pick.

My favorite of them all is Talanoa Hufanga this dude has the potential to be special. Not the best athlete, but he might be the most instinctive player in this draft. The guy has had quite a few injuries in college, but his instincts make him a player you could get a huge reward from as an early day 3 pick. He will play SS, hybrid LB, and can even play in the slot. This is one I'd be very excited for in the draft.

So trade back to take an OL whose best future might be inside at OG? In a draft where we likely will need a lot of defensive help?

I think the OL is important but some of you are obsessed with using high picks on OL.

He has a chance to be the best player available in that 20-21 range. If the team added two additional picks in the process, that's 11 picks to fix our defense.

Just looking at possible trade back options. Adding a frontline starter within the interior, who can play Tackle in a pinch is very valuable, especially with up to 2 top 100 picks in such a move. Many feel the OL is in good shape, but we are starting to show our age and are breaking down physically.

I would love Tufele in the 3rd, but IDK how comfortable I would be with him in the 2nd.

I agree with you, but it's a bit of the discussion on Slater as well.

At some point this team has to figure out how to be able to build a competent OL without having to use premium picks. I started to look but never finished where I tried to find a team that had invested as much in the OL as we had in terms of picks over the last decade - 3 #1 picks, a 2nd (Williams) and a 3rd (McGovern. I couldn't really find one but didn't really look hard.

What has that level of investment gotten us? Nothing. Then you see the Bucs win a SB cobbling together an OL using FA, etc. and they are able to protect an immobile QB enough to win a SB.

At some point, this team has to figure out how to build competent OLs by hitting better in FA and mid to later round picks.

Agree with this 100%, the only caveat is if Sewell is available he is a guy I take at 10 and don't think twice about it.
With that being said I think the Cowboys need to figure out Dak ASAP, or trade him before the draft so we have picks to get a QB/ strengthen the team.
This Dak thing has taken 2 years too long to figure out, and honestly, I am over it. We need an answer on who's going to be our QB for the future and if Dak isn't on board then get a 1st round pick or two, plus some other picks, and move on.
This offense if healthy would be just fine even with a rookie or bringing back Andy Dalton, the money saved on Dak could go so far in building depth and the team up that it is something the Cowboys need to consider.

I know there are a lot of fans here, including myself. However, I've heard he needs a lot of work on developing his hand technique for the next level.

USC has had a lot of crappy coaches and development on the team has not been great. Tufele should have came back to play this year but the talent is there. Good coaching could make the pick a steal in the 3rd rd.

I agree and think rd 2, might be too rich.

I'm always up for BPA, but they need to move up or down the board to make that coincide with need if the draft is all they are going to do to attempt to improve.

They have shown every year they aren't willing to pay the price for the better free agents.

Clearly they would rather over pay for their own and put an inferior product on the field.
