I was going through an intersection, I had just got a green light and as I was entering the intersection I see this ambulance's lights on, just the lights no siren.

I was able to stop in time luckily. If not for a life time of playing video games and pretty good reflexes I would probably have been t-boned and at the speed it was going, I would almost certainly be dead.

Daaammmm! Glad you are ok!! A very good friend of mine was killed just like that in Houston a few years ago. On his way home from work, went into an intersection on his green light, a van stolen by an illegal ran the red light and "T-boned" him causing his SUV to explode in flames. I trust no intersection!!

Thanks. I couldn't believe it. I was stunned, and so glad that I stopped.

Glad you are okay. I got robbed today. They took my wife's wedding ring and some other gold jewelry.

The loss really isn't bothering me much right now.

Whoa! What's the deal there? Story, please.

About the near miss, the driver improvement class I just took talked about 2 accidents right near us that went down just the same way, but without the good outcome.

Glad you're ok.

Broke in while we were at church. We think my wife and kids driving into the driveway scared him/her/them off. I'll assume it is one thief for now. He broke a window in my office and climbed in. Stole my Fossil Cowboys watch. left my wallet alone. Opened a close tin that office. The lock on my gun safe is broken right now, he left all my guns.

Stole my wife's wedding ring and all of her gold jewelry. She is so distraught. One ring was her Grandma's.

Stole all my oldest daughter's gold jewelry except one she had kind of hidden, and then stole all the pennies in my youngest daughter's penny jar, about 4 to 5 bucks worth and didn't even look in her jewelry. We think that is when they got him. iPods and laptops untouched. Wii and TVs and lots of other valuables all untouched.

They left my shotgun which is worth more than everything they took all combined. I would gladly trade that shotgun for my wife's jewelry back. I wouldn't even press charges.

Do you have renters insurance, and would that be covered?

Glad to hear you're okay GB.

Those flash moments are always harrowing. Kind of puts a lot of perspective on things.

renter's insurance is a big hassle even if you do have it. My buddy had his house broken in and they took everything of value including a super old rifle that was handed down through out his family and they stole is computer which had all their newborn pictures up along with the camera that had the pictures on it. They just had a baby like 6 months before so they have nothing of him growing up which is heart breaking. People just need to think twice before stealing stuff and understand that the value of something is usually more then just the monetary amount. But, then again they are stealing for a reason.

As far as renter's insurance they put up another battle asking for receipts for items that didn't have receipts like the gun, tools, pictures. He was lucky enough have to photo evidence of all this stuff, but they only gave me like 25% of what everything was worth.

The operator of that ambulance needs to get his head out of his ***. Emergency vehicles are not permitted to run 1080 like that without sirens, and they aren't allowed to run lights at speed.

Damn,Hos! Sorry to hear that.
Have you had anybody in the house for ANY reason lately? Repairmen, people like that? Sounds like they knew exactly what to take....and what not to take, such as your very valuable shotgun which could be more easily traced.
Sounds like your home was "cased" sometime in the near past. They didn't take TV's,blu-ray players, etc, because they are now just commodity items and too bulky to carry. They also knew when you were going to church.
Do you have a dog?

Naw, I can fix anything in the house myself. I haven't had a repairman in my home in 20 years.

My wife is having a hard time with this, punishing herself for it, and I don't want her to at all. She got violated. A woman's wedding ring is sacred.

GB, I'm sorry your near-death experience didn't get the attention of Hos's home break in, but, for the record, I'm glad you're ok.

Not to be an attention-***** myself, but I almost ran down a toddler who darted out into traffic a few months ago, and the shock of it had me shaking for hours. I know how you're feeling after such a close call. It's really scary.

EDIT: lol, Hos, I just realized I inadvertently inferred you're an attention ***** here. You know what I meant, though.
