The MASSIVE elephant in the room is the QB. He's going to be back barring something miraculous. He's also paid like a Tom Brady/Mahomes type but that's water under the bridge now.
You want any chance of success over the next few years with him as QB? You have to admit the reality here - he's a game manager. And thusly you have to approach the offseason with that firm belief. Take Philly, for example. Hurts, last season, was a turnover machine. Held the ball too long, a lot of questionable deep passes, etc. They also had a decent enough run game and a good OL. This offseason, they decided that in order to get the most out of Hurts, they need a great run game. Out went Swift, a pretty good TB, and in came Barkley. Hurts started rough this year but once they got the run game going and Barkley became the "guy" in that offense, Hurts has settled down. They have limited his throws, used his legs more, have him getting the ball out quicker, etc. Look at his game logs. Those first four games where he played up and down, he averaged over 30 passes a game. Over the last 7 games, he's averaging around 24-25 passes. Hurts is talented but he's far closer and playing better as a "game manager" than trying to make him a Mahomes put it on his shoulders type.
The focus this offseason needs to be strengthening the run game and make Dak more efficient in the way Philly did with Hurts. To me that means a new coaching staff for sure. Get a HC or OC in here that can scheme a good run game. They are going to have to spend some FA dollars on a decent TB (unfortunately there are no studs like last year - best guy might be Aaron Jones) and maybe even on an OL piece. And they have to come out of the draft with a TB. You don't need to use your first round pick on one but likely one of your first three picks.
Even if everything goes right, this team is still a couple of seasons away from being a legit contender. So focus now on fixing the offense and then worry about the defense down the road.
