The Dallas Cowboys were expected to lock up several members of their youthful core to long term deals in the past off-season. They got some accomplished, but others lingered into the 2019 season.

One assumption was that wide receiver Amari Cooper would be one of the easier contracts to complete as he wouldn’t “reset the market” as it were. It turns out the delay could be tied directly to his agent’s place of employment.
How much this stalled the negotiations is unclear.

Prior to the year, he wasn’t thought of as one of the elite wideouts in the league. Prior to the year.

It’s very much both possible and plausible Cooper has been prepared to play out the string all along, knowing his play would speak for itself in 2019, resulting in an even bigger payday. He wouldn’t be wrong.

Interesting.

Maybe this could get Cooper contract work heating up and finished through this time around.

if Amari's changed agents, that clearly means he has every intent to finish his career here in Dallas and wants to stay here,
..as opposing to testing the free agency market to the highest bidder.

If I read the title correctly, it's not that Cooper has changed agents.

It's that his agent has changed the agency he works for.

I don't see why his agent switching agencies would spur negotiations. Cooper has always said he would play out this year, thinking his value would increase with a good year.

Right now, it looks like a good bet on his part.

Lol, the way Coop is playing, he's going to need OBJ level money. Especially since he's playing way better than OBJ and he's def top 3 in the league right now.

He going to get close to Thomas money. Jones won't let him walk and will blink.

Give him the same deal as Thomas, actually. It's a friendly deal.

It could be his agent had been not pushing to get cooper to sign untill after he deed if he was leaving or not. It happens alot that sales guys hold onto a sale if they are switching companies and then process the sale with the new company as to not get stiffed on the sale and also to show your bringing a valuable asset to the new gig. Just speculating.

Yes, Amari did not change agents.

His agent changed agencies.

The agent probably knew he was going to change and didn't want the contract signed until he was with the new agency.

The agent might have had a specific time in his contract with the agency before he could take Amari with him to another agency.

The agent is probably getting almost all of the commission now since he is bring the client with him.

Actually I am hoping the sign Cobb too. That guys is a sneaky SOB and always has been. Always finding openings in the D. And I don't think Dallas would need a lot to keep him.

If they don't sign Dak, they can't franchise Cooper. Kiss him goodbye

"If" is a pretty important word in that sentence. Besides, franchising Dak doesn't somehow mean they can't sign Cooper.

I didn't know that Chafie was his agent. Here's his most memorable highlight. Note that Raiders GM Mayock was the color guy.

It appears we waited on the wrong guys and signed the ones we should've waited on. Lol.

Im not saying I wasn't happy when we signed our guys, just saying none of it seemed to work in our favor.
