I'm an admitted Amendola fan. When training camp opened his chances were slim at best. At the time I thought the biggest factor in him making the team would be whether or not Terry Glenn was signed. He was not. The 2nd biggest factor was whether or not we kept 6 WRs. Now Austin goes down for 4 to 6 weeks. I think at this point we must keep 6 WRs and he will be the 6th one. Alot of cards had to fall in place for him, but I think at this point that they have. I don't expect him to be active come game day after Austin's return, but I do see him making the 53 man roster.

I think at best he has a chance to make the practice squad but I don't think that is a given right now.

If you're a Patriots fan, and you guaranteed that Amendola wouldn't make the roster, Austin's injury gives you a pretty solid "out"-card.

Stay tuned to see it played.

I won't be up in arms if we cut him, but I bet he makes the team and stays there all season.

I think he just needs to show more promise than the 10th OL, 8th Dlineman or
9th LB. Watching our 2nd string line I would say that is easy. Watching our 3rd String LB's, I don't think that is a problem either.

The only thing that may point a fly in that ointment would be bringing in a 3rd QB for active roster like Simms.

Or a vet receiver becomes available via trade.

i dont' think he's ready to contribute this year and doubt he would for a while. this team can't afford to have 2 players in waiting.

for him to be successful he needs to really know how to read defenses and find the open spot. only an experienced veteran would be able to fill that role. and as the season begins, he's not going to have time with romo to gain his confidence and timing.

plus he can't play on special teams coverage.

Got to agree that Amendola will make the team.

The question becomes, who is better, Bartel at QB or Amendola at WR? One of these guys will make the team, the other won't.

Unless we get a guy like Beck or Simms of course. Then neither guy is going to make the team, bank it.

Isnt Garrett(& company) really high on Danny? That changes anything you or I think.

I would like to see Amendola get some time with a quality QB. Bartell doesn't help Amendola's cause at all.

Bartell and Amendola are not NFL Quality players. If that is what JJ is backloading our roster with we are on a scheduled and tangible decline -

so High on him that he is playing 4th quarter of 2nd preseason game - LOL

Amendola was sharp in training camp. But I have to agree, we need WR's that can make big plays now!

..they find a role for him returning punts and KOs in the opener.

I think the one fumble he had in the first game was just a nerves thing.

He's a playmaker. And if you get him 6+ touches a game in kick returning or in the offense in the slot, he's going to make big plays.

I much prefer having him return punts and not Pacman or TNew. And now with TNew's injury, I think Amendola makes the team even more.

Also, the more we see him playing, the less chance he can be put on the practice squad as other teams will see him play.

I think he's made the team myself.

If anything, he's probably really beat from TC since it's his 1st one. Let him get a bit of rest before pre-season is over. I'll bet he pops a big play and sews up his spot.

My 2 cents.

I think we move him on and off the team this year... he'll be that guy we try to sneak on and off the PS.

We could lose him, but we could keep him, too.

I also agree we need players who can make plays now. I think we have that in Crayton and Hurd. Though I'm not as high on Austin as some, I'm listening to others because I trust most of the fan base's opinion.

I see he's raw, but I can see others' point about him as well. This, in my opinion, is the most fascinating part of the team.

Everyone is competing and could end up being the #2,3,4 WR. This is a great thing to watch. I just hope players get better and step up to prove us doubters wrong.

That's what I'm rooting for.

I'd like to see him make some plays before we start thinking he's great. Honestly, we haven't seen him do squat, we've only read about it.
