Yikes. Don't lie kiddies...

NBC's summer talent show "America's Got Talent" looked like it had found a new star this week in country singer Tim Poe, who came to the stage with a heart-tugging story: He's an Afghanistan war veteran who was injured by a rocket-propelled grenade, suffering brain damage and developing a stutter that he can only suppress while singing. But his tale might be too good to be true. Reports are now surfacing that Poe may have fabricated the whole story.
Reality TV blog Rickey.org first reported that the military records didn't match Poe's story.

Then I read this at the end of the linked story ...

[UPDATE: Looks like Poe is sticking with his story. He tells TMZ today that the version he told on-air is true, and that soldiers' injuries are often not reported correctly in military records. Poe, however, could not produce any documentation to verify his claims, saying he can't release any photos or medical records for legal reasons.]

Yeah, right!

So it appears he lied ... got caught in his lie ... then decided to stick with his lie. This guy is goin' down. What a Maroon!

The military may be many things. The one thing it is not is being short on paper work and detail.

Exactly right. And now the actual soldier whose photo this 'AGT' jerk used, as if it was his own, is calling bull! Check it out ...

Singing Vet on 'AGT' Caught Using Fake Photo
The 'America's Got Talent' contestant submitted a photo of another soldier

By Tim Kenneally

The evidence that "America's Got Talent" contestant Timothy Poe failed to tell the truth about his military service continues to mount.

TMZ reports, a photo of a soldier shown during Poe's audition is not Poe at all, but rather a different soldier altogether.

Staff Sgt. Norman Bone -- the man who's actually pictured in the photo -- contacted the website to set the record straight. And he's not happy about the case of mistaken identity.

"First thing that came to my mind was 'Why would this lying son of a b---- do this?'" Bone, who serves in El Paso, Texas, told TMZ. "I'm absolutely furious. Been seeing red all day."

this guy needs to be disqualified.

Stern was pretty upset about the news on his show yesterday. My guess is you will get your wish. I just hope they bring him on stage to deliver the news.

They need to bring a couple of real combat soldiers on stage to give this kid a Kiwi Injection in front of the world.

I didn't watch the video first time around. It's pretty sad, because he can sing and it's too bad being applauded takes priority over just doing what you're good at and being satisfied with that.

They were playing some clips of this on the radio this morning. He didn't sound that good on the clips they played. I have heard better singing, much better.

I agree. He is an average to a bit above average singer. What got him the most support wasn't the singing but his story. He will be booted. the producers won't stand for being lied to and they can't afford to let this go through.

Last season on AI a guy got kicked out after making it to Hollywood for lying. And they kicked him off on air.

I don't doubt his story won them over. His singing isn't unique, but it wasn't bad judging from the clip that's from the actual show. Singing live say's a lot about someones ability and I thought he did fine. He'd do ok as a singer without the bull crap story.

In case you haven't noticed, he is a judge on AGT. That is why I posted the comment.

You are free to judge his morals all you want. I'm sure you will find plenty of people that share your sentiment.

I think you mean he doesn't have your morals. Doesn't mean he loses all right to disapprove of anything ever.
