Plastic wrap containers that don't cut.
This drives me NUTS. You need to wrap something in plastic to save for later, so you pull out the amount you need from that plastic wrap roll whose box has a built-in cutter. Only problem is, it doesn't actually cut anything. You yank on it harder and harder until you bust a hole it the plastic, but it's still not an even cut. You end up having to tear it off. Who designs this crap?

I find it best to stick the plastic flat to the counter, then pull the container away from it, starting at one end to cut the plastic wrap.

Bent can openers...https://encrypted-tbn0.***NOT-ALLOWED***/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkPby0ucny1l5Pl9pX1DVKRROQzrwznuWvBB7H4piBZK-TOIlC&s

I can't stand the can openers that cut only part way around the can, leaving some places where it cut and other places where it just made an indentation. So then you have to go around again, trying to cut the dented parts. It's often the cheapie openers that do that. I always make sure to invest in a high-end can opener, and so I don't have that problem. It's worth paying a few extra bucks to have a really good can opener.

Cooking for one. I can't even get excited about a favorite meal and do not enjoy food as much as I used to when my wife and I really spent a lot of time in the kitchen, drinking wine and cooking. Cooking and not drinking wine is work. Cooking gave us something to do together while drinking wine.

I have a problem, I am a cookbook addict. I gave away over 150 of them when I moved down here and I now have 50 more and about 10 are of the ones I gave away. What's worse is that I'd bet there aren't 5 I've cooked anything out of and to make matters worse, I take Fine Cooking, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit and Cooks Illustrated magazines and I haven't cooked but one thing out of any of them. Hell, I've got 10 BBQ cookbooks and already use tried and tested recipes from over the last 40 years.

Cooking has become a chore, a necessity because I live in the boonies or I would live off prepared and restaurant food. Hell, I spent 2 hours on prepping an Asian dish and it wasn't as good as what the local Chinese place does.

I also waste too much food because my intentions change from when I thought "hmmm, I'll make something out of this" to "what was I thinking when I bought this"? My freezers are packed with food I had to freeze or let it go bad because I didn't force myself to fix it. At least I didn't sign up for one of those prepared food services or I'd be wasting that.

Instead of moving down here, I should have rented a room off the food court at a mall in Dallas. Wandering out in my boxers, scratching my crotch and butt simultaneously while lining up at Auntie Anne's and Cinnabon.

Dude! They moved the metal cutter from the bottom of the box to the lid which makes it almost impossible to cut sheets off unless they are short. I have it and almost always tear the plastic wrap on one side! I am guessing the move it because it was easy to cut your hand on the metal cutter when it was on the bottom of the box, but that is a small price to pay to be able to cut the plastic wrap cleanly.

Remember to oil the can opener periodically. That improves it's performance quite a bit.

I bought one of those openers that cuts off the top of the can because I read they are the best. I won't mention any brands, but this one was top rated. I never use it. It is noisy and slow and I think bits of metal and paper from the label wind up in the contents of the can. POS. I put some oils on my old hand cranked can opener and I could not believe how much better it worked.

I don't like people in my kitchen when I am cooking. Once I start the process everyone "Get out of my kitchen!" It's annoying when people get in my way as I am moving around, or using the sink when I have hands full of raw food and I need to wash them.

Maybe you should take cooking classes. That way, you can socialize while learning and trying new recipes.

See my solution above. I never have a problem since I started doing this.

I bought an electric opener, and it works better than any hand held I've ever had.
