Another Gulf of Mexico Storm, and Atlantic

This 10% in the GOM is the one to watch for most of us on the third coast of the US.

The close proximity to land is going to stifle most of the developmental potential. The steering winds have it drifting through the GOM coastal areas bringing tons of rain and cooler temperatures. There's an outside chance of making it to a named storm before the 70% red in the Atlantic does.

That one out in the Atlantic is just going to make some fish dizzy and screw with the shipping lanes. Other than that, the East Coast has nothing to worry about from it.

The one in the GOM is just something worth watching.

For sure. I was checking it from work earlier today. I'll probably hop on StormChat Thursday night after the game. Can't wait to watch the webcams as it makes landfall. Were you on HCW during Ike?

Keep an eye out then on the top image, the one with the yellow 2 - 10%, and the train of storms coming off of Cape Verde to the east of it.

That image is dynamic and changes every few hours as I have it direct linked to the storm site which is why the commentary won't make sense when you compare the early parts of the thread.

Haven't seen much of hurricanes since Katrina. Hurricane season these past few years has been like a drought.

Stormchasers must be getting pretty bored down in the Gulf. Looks like they need a bailout if things continue as the same.

This storm is not expected to get much stronger. Not that uncommon to get tropical storms down here.

The closer I get to my next fishing trip, the more convinced I am that a big fat storm will pop up on these maps!
