Any coax cable gurus here?

I'm having a heck of a time getting connectors on RG-6 QS. I strip the cables, pull back the outer shield, remove the outer foil, pull back inner shield and fight like hell just to get the connector half way on. Bought two different brands supposedly for QS with the same results. If I pull off the connector the inner foil is torn to shreds. Every tutorial I've watched the connector just slides on with minimal effort yet am fighting for several minutes just to get a millimeter or two.

Any thoughts? The connectors I bought were from Lowe's and Menards. Ideal and Pallidin I think we're the name brands. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Are your connectors for RG59 and you're trying to force them on RG6?

RG6 is larger than RG59 and you could be forcing the wrong connector onto the wrong size cable.

No, they supposedly fit the cable. Though they may be "universal" for different types of Rg6 cable.

Have you checked to see if it was threaded inside?

That I don't recall but I don't think so. It's been a while since I messed with it but I may be starting a project at home that requires making new cables. Last time I just grabbed a long regular rg6 premade from my closet and cut it up to the sizes I needed.

There is a special tool for that.
