Any light at the end of tunnel for our run blocking?

For those who know (Coaches, film watchers, etc) - why has our run blocking been so terrible all year? Is it something Solari doing? Is it Mike's offense? is it our OL talent or all the above?

Feels like guys are getting smashed as soon as they get the ball, or having to make like 2 moves behind the line to hope to get back to the line.

I miss Travis.

Anyway, any education appreciated.

The Center doesnt cut off well enough or get to the 2nd level enough to pick up LB’s. Also this team HAS missed Hendershot in the run game. He’s our best blocking TE hopefully he continues to get healthier. When there are holes the RB’s seem hesitant. Pollard no longer trusts his own speed to get there. Dowdle needs to get more carries he hits the hole fastest.

Pollard being terrible makes the run-blocking look a lot worse than it is. Where Zeke is really missed is turning the 0- and 1-yard runs into 3- and 4-yard runs. Pollard never has been able to do that with any consistency.

That said, the bigger problem is simply in just choosing to run. I have no idea why they kept running against DET - who are neanderthals when it comes to defensive ideology. Dallas should have thrown the ball on basically every play. The ridiculous insistence on running the ball is what has handcuffed this offense for years. People don't understand how fortuitous it is to have a QB who can consistently move the ball despite being put behind the chains constantly (and on purpose).

Get rid of Salari and go back to a zone scheme which is a much better fit for our current players… but that’s an off-season fix at this point!

I honestly think the scheme is a lot of it; and as was pointed out running EVERY SINGLE TIME on first down is STUPID.

It’s been said they run a blend of zone & man-0-mano
Most teams do

It’s almost like they have “a tell”, in gamblers terms

Given the pre-game data AND how things were going during the game, I’m really curious why McCarthy stubbornly stuck with the 1st down runs. It simply was not working.
