Any Older Shows that Look Great in HD?

My son is old enough to watch TV14 shows without me feeling like a terrible parent, so I plugged in the first episode of Lost on NetFlix to see if he might be interested in watching it. The thing that stood out to me was how AMAZING the picture was, especially considering the first season was shot in 2003 before HD was really a big mainstream item. They must have thought ahead because the clarity was unreal.

Are there any other shows that stand out high on the list of visual quality? We are finally cutting the cord for good in a few months so the more shows we have in our "must watch" line-up, the better!

Do you have a 4k TV? I just got one and I believe Netflix ramps up the resolution to 4K if you have one and you have fast enough Internet. (25mb connection, though I believe 4k only requires about 15mb.)

Ultra HD is nice. I wasn't going to spring for a 4k TV, but after messing around with the TV and the Android TV that is one it (all my apps work), I spend a few extra hundred bucks for it. So far I absolutely love the TV. (Sony Bravia XBR55X850C)

Nah, still don't have one yet. Might be a next year purchase. I'm on the "steroid" internet plan and we have fiber so download speeds won't be an issue, just want to make sure there is enough content out there before I pull the trigger.

Season one of Perry Mason on DVD is absolutely stunning for a fifties show. It's my benchmark for shows from the golden age.

They have HD versions of The Twilight Zone and Star Trek original that look great, they were done for Bluray but I think that's the ones Netflix and Hulu use now. Some of the old shows were shot on film so it's not hard to have HD and the picture quality can be great even in black and white. I would try to get him hooked on the old classics, each Twilight Zone episode is like a little movie and you can see how it inspired so many other stories.
