Wow.
That was an experience.
This kid is the real deal, for sure.
I've been going to baseball games since my first game at the Houston Colt .45's in the Astrodome, way back when. I have NEVER seen anything like what I saw tonight. Unbelievable.
Don't know if it came across on TV, but in the first inning, right before every pitch, a total hush came across the crowd...the anticipation. Wow.
14 K's. Wow.
I was in right field, about 6 rows back. In fact, that first homer off of Strasburg, the guy 3 rows in front of me caught it. Then he threw it all the way back to I think the first baseman on the field. He got quite an ovation. I almost had a souvenir, because that ball landed *that short* of me... But that guy and his entourage shortly were asked to leave their seats. I imagine that he and company were invited up to one of the suites (Obama? He was there I heard)
And throughout the game, I have NEVER heard a crowd like that for a meaningless regular season game. Un-frigging-believable. It was almost a playoff atmosphere.
This ticket is a keeper for sure, as is the program and the mini-bat with Strasbourg noted on it as his first MLB game.
And I am a Braves fan.
But this was history. That kid, this Stephen Strasbourg, I think, will be wowing us for years to come. As I said, he is the real deal.
I've seen closers throwing 98-100 MPH for an inning, but this kid keeps the radar gun glowing for as long as he's in. Wow.
I am suitably impressed, and am very happy to have been at his first MLB game. Hopefully I got on TV
