Anybody watching the motorcycle jump in Vegas?

Is this the same guy who did that 300+ jump twice last year?

The free fall was unreal.

Robbie Maddison just made Evil Knievel look like a sissy.

Here are his jumps last year.

Oh, you dissed Knievel a little too much, I think. He did attempt to jump Snake River Canyon... while piloting a ROCKET of all things. :)

Here's the jump we watched last night.

and he chickened out and hit the chute before he got off the ramp, not that I blame him. Of course he did take a baseball bat to that guy while both his arms were in casts so that was pretty cool.:laugh1:

Actually it was established that the chute malfunctioned and deployed way too early- he almost drowned in the river- it only landed about 10 feet from the water. Evel did it without a lot of the safety equipment they use today and calculators to figure out how fast and weight and such. When Evel did it it was truly crazy. No comparison.

Yeah, I know he blamed the equipment guy.
The biggest difference between now and then is the suspension of the modern day bikes.

They didn't have calculators, speedometers, and weight scales in the 70's?

Wow.

The YouTube video should have shown his hands afterwards. He landed so hard his hand jammed into the hand brake which caused this SICK gash in the palm of his hand. Robbie said it was down to the bone, but I tried not to look at that thing when he showed it. Nasty.

There were no calculators in the 60's when evil was jumping. He did not bother with weight and such. He just put on his helmet and gunned the engine and off he went. Not quite of course but pretty close. From everything Ihave ever heard and read (and I watched live his jump at Ceasers Palace) he never did much prepare at all. Interestingly the only jump when he did all that was Snake River where it all failed so spectacularly.
