Anyone replace a dishwasher before? Maybe an appliance installer on here?

Mine died about 6 months ago and I've been hand washing since. I think I know the issue but the replacement part is about $200. The dishwasher doesn't work that well to begin with so I thought about replacing it myself. I've watched some videos and the connecting of a dishwasher doesn't seem that hard.

Most of the ones I look at say actual size is 23.75 inches wide (guess I should have said looked at, now they are almost all 23.875). The one I have measures the same but the opening is only slightly bigger than that (maybe 1/16 to 1/8 inch). What I don't know is if that is normal.

Yep I just did mine about 6 months ago. Easy-peasy. It probably has a mounting screw somewhere around the lip of it (usually the top will be mounted to the counter). Take that out and it should wiggle out from there. You will have the water/drain hose and electrical wire connected to the back of it. Make sure your power is off at your electrical panel. Undo all those. Remove old dishwasher. Position new dishwasher in place to make it reachable to the connections. Connect it back up. Go turn your power back on and make sure everything is good. Slide it back in. Screw the lip back to the counter. BOOM! Enjoy your new dishwasher. :D

A dishwasher is probably the easiest appliance to replace, just make sure it is the right size.

I've never had a dishwasher, but I assume it's got hoses like a washing machine that need to be turned off as well?

Now you got me wondering, trying to remember? haha I'm going to say it would be safe to turn the water off under the sink.

Make sure you measure it correctly. My wife got a new microwave that she wanted to replace our space saver one over the stove. When my friend and I were putting it up she said that is way too big (it came out too much over the stove). I asked her, you did measure this before you bought this right? She replied the sales guy told me it is the standard size for all the microwaves in houses now. I replied, for houses that were built in 2010, not ours that was built in 1990. She took it back and got another one that is not as big but still comes out a little. I told her I don't even think they make the spacer savers microwaves any more.

Yes and it was a fine job if I do say so myself. I'll see if I can track down those two guys that did it and get some pointers for you. I think part of it is when you bend down to adjust the bottom, you should have exemplary buttcrack showing. Do not attempt to do it without buttcrack showing.
