Apple has reportedly been awarded an anti-sexting patent. The patent awarded by US Patent and Trademark Office was filed in 2008. The patent, with official title "Text-based communication control for personal communication device," is sure to be a boon for parents who don't want their kids to exchange naughty messages or stumble upon one.

According to news reports, the patent background info states that the problem it solves is that there is currently "No way to monitor and control text communications to make them user appropriate. For example, users such as children may send or receive messages (intentionally or not) with parentally objectionable language."

Memo to Apple, the tots will find other ways.

Re the objectionable language, when will adults learn that their tots know more bad words than they ever will know and that using filters is silly?

Yeah those kids will hack that thing for weeks until they get around it.

How about parenting kids, instead of having the technology baby sit them.

dumbest thing ever, plus they have now decreased their own market, kids will not want a phone that limits what they can say or do when they can get one just as good that does let them do/say what they want

Idiotic. Kids will create new slang or look to old slang to get away with it. Dumbest idea since unsliced bread.
