Wow. Can't these guys (both sides) just put their lawyers away and compete? This is so freaking ignorant.

==================================

The never-ending war on Android has cost Apple more than $100 million, according to latest estimates. While a huge chunk of that money was spent (read wasted) in claims against HTC.

So far, 84 claims have been filed against different Android manufacturers (HTC, Samsung etc.) for patent infringments, out of which only 10 were proved to have been infringed and only one ruling has gone in Apple’s favour.

Complete Story

and if they win one big case they'll get all the money back and hurt their competitors.

But Apple's revenue is over $100 Billion and their profit was $25 Billion. $100 Million is completely insignificant to them.

They won't and they can't. Android isn't going anywhere.

Apple’s profits for the last quarter exceed Google’s entire revenue for the last quarter ($13 billion to $10.6 billion).

Amazing. Whatever Apple is doing, they're doing it right.

...and $100M is insignificant to Google whom Apple is deathly afraid to sue. ...which is why they keep suing everyone except Google.

The point is it's completely ignorant and stupid. Apple has won a single suit and what did that do? Practically nothing. Samsung was not allowed to ship Galaxy Tabs into Germany directly from their manufacturing center. Instead, the shipped them to a wholesaler in the country next to Germany where they were immediately imported into Germany and put on the selves of all their retailers.

Apple won nothing. (not only that, the stupid ban was later lifted) If Apple (and any of the other guys) want to just throw away $100M, let them throw it at me because the lawyers aren't doing anything of value with it except raising the cost of the devices for the consumers.

It's a war of attrition of multi-billionaires. :banghead:

Google doesn't manufacture phones. They're suing manufacturers of phones. Did you really not think of that?

PS, I have some intellectual property lawyer buddies involved in a number of lawsuits with Google (either as plaintiffs or co-defendants). No one is scared to sue Google. The bigger the fish, the more likely they're getting sued.

I read that yesterday, too. It's insane what they've done.

Apple needs google. Why would they sue them? Conspiracy theories run wild, I guess.

Yea, jacking up prices and convincing the public it's better than the competition.

Brilliant.

Apple can go suck their pricing. I'm not buying anything from them anytime soon for that reason. Sure, they have a good product. But if you break one piece they'll charge you so much it makes more sense to get a new computer.

That's not the case with other types or brands of computers.

:laugh2: I hear this more often than not, but theo will only come in and rub it in your face how since you can't afford it, you shouldn't buy it.

damned if you do...damned if you don't. :laugh2: They do have good products but the really aren't meant for the average joe.

More of the elite joes, amiright theo? poke-poke

I am an android guy cuz I am poor. :laugh2:

Funny, on prices, no one can seem to match them on the iPad for the hardware. And the reason they've been able to be so aggressive on pricing is (a) their massive standalone retail network and (b) their years of integration of the supply chain. In other words, they put out cheaper products for what they have in them because of smart business decisions.

As to convincing the public it's better, with people ponying up to buy 37 million iPhones and 15 million iPads, I'm not sure how much "convincing" was involved and how much it took just building a better product.

Oh really? I got an Asus Transformer Prime that will run circles around your little Ipad2.

499.99 across that street at BB.

Might want to go rethink that statement my friend.

You do understand 1GB > 512?

Quad core > Dual core? No?

hrmmm... You know they now have Skyrim running on this little baby? CRAZY STUFF

BTW: I just checked Amazon and the latest Ipad2 32GB wi-fi is 598.00

Yeah...I paid 499.99 for a better product.

rofl, did someone use the excuse that Apple is only suing smartphone manufacturers when Steve Jobs said he would spend every penny of Apples money to kill Android? Yeah, Google's product. :laugh2:

btw, Google now owns Motorola Mobility who is now suing Apple directly. (or will soon enough)

Of course, it's not about Google wanting to sue Apple over their iPhone. It's Google throwing down the gauntlet because Apple is being such a idiot trying to indirectly attack Android and scare off the devices makers.

Apple can't win a real IP fight and stop Android. They are just trying to use scare tactics to protect what they have as long as they can. The problem is, it isn't working and market assimilation is coming.

Apple needs to just shut up and make a great product and it will continue to do well. All they are going to do is getting into a nasty IP fight that they are going to end up losing.

Apple does not control enough valid IP to survive. Most of what they are suing with is getting tossed out as invalid or prior art and the stuff that does stick is weak. It isn't even David (Android) and Golith (Apple) anymore. Now it's Golith (Apple) vs Golith (Google / Andriod / Motorola), Golith (Samsung), Golith, (HTC), Golith (VIA Technologies), Golith, (Cisco) and 10 more Davids all loaded down with IP to attack Apple with.

Apple's boat is full of holes and they can't pump the legal water out fast enough. They need to let go and just compete. If they stop suing, so will the others. Apple is the one being an idiot here. They started all the suing and it has taken them nowhere.

You're not an intellectual property lawyer, so stop pretending to be one.

I'm under the belief that Google is just doing it wrong. They leave so much money on the table with Youtube, could plaster it with ads and they will lose no visitors. Could triple the revenue from Youtube easily with more ads, ads in the middle of videos that are over 7 minutes and making 1080 premium and charge $5 a month or something and if you are premium you also get no ads, and they could place more ads on Google itself and increase their revenue a ton.

People always say that Vince McMahon is a millionaire that should be a billionaire, well Google is a company that could double their revenue if they made some bold moves. Could it backfire? Well put it this way; Google is Search, you don't say "Search for it" you say "Google it", Youtube is online videos, Adsense is ads', Chrome is quickly becoming "the" browser.

The only major market online that Google doesn't monopolize is social media and Google+ is excellent, it's just a matter of time.

Dude, I went in there ready to buy 2 desktops, 1 more laptop, 2 ipads and an iphone. I was that sold on them.... Then they quoted me the price of the mother board, which they call the logic board.

"That'll be $755.00 please."

I've got money. But there is a reason for that. So, I cough up the money and refer back to my olden days at the computer companies. I actually worked for Apple and Dell.

I tell them a line that will eventually cause them to make a vague mistake that cost them a hassle and me time. So I told them my apt. # was 303. I then knew my computer was being bounced back and forth via the neighbor telling me. LOL

So I eventually got back on the phone with Apple.

"Hey you guys, insert cuss words, were the heck is my computer?"

Finally, I get back to their "PR department", whom I'd already been dealing with. They say, "Yes, sir, 3 weeks is a bit ridiculous."

I say, "yes, it is, especially when you told me it would only take 10 days."

They agreed to refund my money and have me out of their ear for a bit.
