Apple's value soars to $600 billion

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Apple's rocket trip into the stock-market stratosphere took it to a lofty new height Tuesday morning, when Apple's valuation briefly crossed the $600 billion mark.
That's a milestone only one other company has ever achieved. Microsoft's market cap topped $600 billion in late 1999, at the height of the dot-com bubble.

Please don't sit here and think for a second that Apple is going to deliver the vision that is Jobs. They already are showing problems w/ the latest new iPad. Not at ALL what people expected.

I always bash Apple, but their PE ratio is lower than Googles.

Apple isn't overvalued as a company. What is overvalued is their products. People pay A LOT more money for them than they cost to make. It's that huge marge that gives them such high earnings. Those high earnings cause their stock value to shoot up.

The bad thing about Apple is that they are inflating the price of good tablets out there. You can buy a decent 17" laptop for 4GB of memory and 320GB hard drive for less than $500. You buy a tablet with a screen about half that size, 1GB of memory, a slower processor, 1/10th the storage, and no keyboard for $629.
