'In The Navy!' Dallas Cowboys Making Uniform Change? NFL Tracker

Updated by the minute, our Dallas Cowboys NFL Tracker: News and views and moves inside The Star and around the league ...

In this story:

Dallas Cowboys

DALLAS COWBOYS
SEPT. 13 COWBOYS UNIFORM GETS SUBTLE MAKEOVER Just in time for the end of New York Fashion Week, observant views of the Dallas Cowboys' aesthetics have noticed that the team could be making a subtle change to its relatively eternal color palette.
As noticed by sports uniform and aesthetic archiver TruColor, the Cowboys' official style guide shows that the gray/silver pants often paired with the (supposedly unlucky) navy jersey now feature royal blue stripes. Supposedly, the new pants could be worn when Dallas dons its white jersey (traditionally considered to be their home uniform) on the road, but the team dressed in its light blue/silver pants for Sunday's 40-0 win over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Football fashion aficionados will no doubt keep an eye on any changes. As it stands, Dallas appears scheduled to wear its navy jersey for the first time on Oct. 29 when it faces the Los Angeles Rams at home. Dallas' next road game lands on Sept. 24 in Arizona.

I think that the grey pants with the white jerseys on the road could be a sharp look, but man that white and silver uniform combo is one of the most iconic/recognizable in all of sports. Doesn't get much better than that already.

As long as they ain't going with the distressed look, or flared pants ...i am good. Really dig the grey pants with the navy blue jerseys.

I think they would have made an entirely new set of pants that actually matched the helmet sheen of silver vs. just changing the striping on the current silver pants if they were to do this. The current silver pants match the silver in the navy jersey, but don't exactly match the silver of the helmet. While I'd love some more variation in the uniforms (I'd love to see the color rush jersey with silver pants and navy socks, as well as the navy jersey 2-3 more games per year), I'd be very surprised if they wore a different set of pants with the standard home jersey.

So the silver pants will have royal blue stripes that don't match the navy blue jersey. What is happening? I believe a royal blue jersey is in the works. They're already wearing royal blue tees. Hmmmmm.

Finally, a fellow sea foam truther. I see you brother.
I actually thought they finally updated the cameras to a model that allows the sea foam green to come through on television. For the first time in nearly 30 years of being a fan I thought their pants looked legit aqua on Sunday. Nobody else was commenting on it so maybe it's just that my 14 year old plasma screen is finally starting to give out.

i don’t get why they would add royal blue to the grey pants. my first guess would be they’re wearing grey pants with the white jersey. (Didn’t happen)

so you may be on to something with a new royal blue jersey

The rain made them wet so they looked darker, but there is definitely still an aqua/seafoam tint. Some people say the green is gone (official color is silver green), but I still see it. They may have added a little more blue to the tint, though.

Where’s it say official color is silver green? Our old ones were seafoam green.
I don’t see any green in the new pants. Light/sky blue to me. A guy I work with swears they are silver and I was surprised to see it called silver/blue

This reminds me of that internet thing about what color is this dress? Colors are subjective I guess.

They would have to remove one of their current jerseys to introduce a royal blue jersey (teams are only allowed 4 jerseys) and there's no reason to change the pants first, they would just release the new pants and jersey together. I'd bet quite a bit this is just an error in the NFL style guide.

White pants with navy blue jerseys are my favorite.

I read somewhere that the seafoam green pants don't look good on a HD tv. Was this the reason they took out the seafoam green?

I noticed that immediately. It really irked me, because the aqua needs to be buried forever.
