Are there things that trigger you into being a housework maniac?

Since this weekend, I've been a housework maniac. It's not that the place was a total fright, but I'm jumping on things that needed to get done, mundane stuff like cleaning the fridge out, cleaning the microwave, etc. For me if I've just bought something cool, I feel the need to see that in my place totally immaculate. As you know, I bought a super nice guitar over this past weekend. So now I have the strong need to own that guitar with the house being in super good ship shape. Am I the only one who does this or do other people do it as well?

I also get triggered into being a housework maniac if I'm going to be going on a trip. When I get back from any trip, I feel like I have to come back to a model home that's totally clean, neat, and tidy. If I don't, it feels like a rotten return to home.

When I was in graduate school my fellow doctoral students and I had the cleanest apartments in town because we just had to clean the apartment before we could go back to work on the dissertations. Or read another book. Anything other than make progress towards the one thing that could get us out of there and complete the degree

I can relate to that. Sometimes the housework itself is procrastination against doing something more important. Hey, at least you get a clean house out of it.
