Its just a rumor I have heard here and there but figured I would ask you Cowboy faithful?

Is Parcells looking at Al Groh to run the D?

Not sure, but I believe there was a rumor floating around saying that Parcells wanted to hire Groh as DC, setting him up as his predecessor as HC of the Cowboys.

Sure hope not. Not really sure what he has done to deserve the opportunity.....besides shine Parcells' shoes....which probably means he is our DC next year.

not that I know of, pretty sure our next DC will be hired from within, that's the 'real' rumors that I'm hearing

Yes, it's a rumor. Unsubtantiated. Second part of the rumor was that Groh wanted to be considered a potential successor to Parcells, and Jerry was balking at the contingency.

Anyone one know his NFL Resume???

I know some of it.

Groh was the HC at Wake in the early 80s. In the late 80s, like 89 or so, he became the LBs coach for the NYG under Parcells. He was the LBs coach on Parcells Super Bowl Championship team. When Parcells moved on, Groh was promoted to DC under new HC (at the time) Ray Handley. Handley's stent with the Giants was horrible and Groh then moved on to join Belichick as his Linebackers coach in Cleveland. Basically, I think he got fired from the Giants but don't remember for sure. As you may recall, Belichick in Cleveland was a disaster. Needless to say, so was the entire staff. This was probably 92 or so. Shortly after, Groh again joined Parcells as the DC in New England but was shortly after demoted to Linebackers coach once Belichick got the axe in Cleveland and came over to NE to joing the staff as DC. When Parcells joined the Jets in like 97, Groh again followed and again served as LBs coach with Belichick being the DC for the Jets. That lasted for a couple seasons and then there was the whole melt down with Parcells again retiring, Belichick snubbing the Jets and Groh becoming the hand picked successor, by BP, to replace him as HC with the Jets. That lasted exactly one season, as I recall. His record with the Jets as a HC was 9-7. For whatever reason, Groh resigned the next year to become HC of his Alma Mater, University of Virginia. He has been there ever since.

That's about as much as I know.
