That aint chump change.

I like the rumors of Auburn being interested in Bobby Petrino just for the entertainment value.

What the hell are all these ridiculous rumors with Arkansas, they are still Arkansas, not USC or Texas, these are all pipe dreams! Next week we will hear that they offered nick Saban 8 mil a year to leave Alabama for Arkansas!

IF they are willing to put out that kind of money for a coach, chances are they will get a good one to bite that normally would not for that school.

I'm told this isn't rumor but take that with a grain of salt.

Auburn can't be that desperate that it would pursue Petrino. Wait, maybe it is. :(

Arkasas is supposedly after everybody from Les Miles to Art Briles, my guess is they get none. Sonny Dykes is my presumption for them, and he'd be a fine match.

The SEC is going to have to evolve to be more offensively explosive, or spread teams are going to continue to upset them as A&M has proven.

Arkansas is scrambling to stop the free-fall their program is in. They don't want to waste time hoping a mid-major or current assistant will pan out. They need a proven coach right now so they can right the ship and continue competing for 2nd in the SEC West. They haven't been strong in recruiting lately and the current situation is not helping. This is bad news for them with A&M having such a strong first season in the SEC.

Miles was a pipe dream; Briles is not, if for no other reason that the fact that it's highly unlikely that Baylor will ever land another RGIII.

Realistically speaking, it is not possible to compete for a national championship at Baylor. It is possible to do so at Arkansas. If the Hogs come calling Briles would be foolish not to accept.

Ok. We all know this was a decoy thrown by Miles' agent to land a bigger deal at LSU.
He succeeded and the Miles is now signed at LSU for 7 more years.

can we / thread now?

I don't doubt there was something to it. Jerry is the biggest booster they have, and of course Miles coached here...

And Briles' daughter works for the Cowboys...

That's a pretty serious offer of some serious money.

Guessing that Miles people used that to get more from LSU. That's just a guess on my part.

Sorry but that's just patently false. Briles is A. a Texas guy to the end, just about the only program that could lure him is UT and that just isn't going to happen. B. He's 56 not much time in him to rebuild yet another program, especially when he's on the cusp of doing something special in the Big 12 with some of the best recruiting Baylor has ever had in it's century plus football history coming in next year.

Winning begets winning, so does pride in place and goals, and frankly nothing short of Mack brown handpicking Briles as his successor will get him off the Baylor sideline.

Watch him deliver a BCS team in the next two to three seasons, it will happen.

As for not getting another RG3, there will never be another RG3 anywhere so that's a very moot point, the offense is still ranked in the top 3 in FBC.

You can call me homer if you wish, but you have to be pretty much not payign attention not to realize the Big 12 is in a state of absolute parity and Baylor is as qualified as any to claim it in the coming years

FWIW... Galloway was speculating -- though educated speculating knowing most of these people to some degree plus others in the game -- that Briles wouldn't take the UA job, but would wait for his dream job, Texas Tech, to open. He's a West Texas guy and wanted to be there when Leach was fired, but Tech couldn't work out the buyout. And Tuberville could be gone if things don't work next year.

Said Briles would also listen to the Texas job, but that seems less likely.

Personally, I don't see why he wouldn't take the UA job. But I'd be happy to see him stay in the Big 12.
