Kenneth Kobobel Sr., a 72-year-old Marine veteran, had yet to put on his eyeglasses when he heard a knock at the door of his office in a northwest Houston strip mall around 9:45 a.m. on Friday.
The great-grandfather was chatting with his brother inside the office, making plans for the day, and figured the towering man waiting outside was one of his workers coming to collect his Friday paycheck.

Clearly picked the wrong person to rob. Sad to hear that he is tore up about it though.

I love the Marine Corps.

Reminds me of this newspaper clipping my father sent to me last Christmas, entitled

"Sometimes **** happens..."

The usual suspects will be here soon to blame the 72 year old marine for causing a death.

I guess this is what happens when you choose a life of crime and then find some stupid way to pick the wrong person to try and committ that crime against.

I think somebody posted that here around that time. That's pretty great.

Haha that is awesome. Mind if I save that? Is there anything he didn't break from his "fall"? haha.

Something here doesn't make sense. How high was that curb - 3 stories?

You can't get those kind of injuries from falling off a standard height curb.

Thats a joke right?

I can only imagine you're attempting to be funny with this.

No, you can't get those injuries from falling off a curb.

I looked into this story a bit more - it is apparently false. The guy was detained and restrained by the marines and then handed over to the police. He had no serious injuries.

The marine was actually stabbed, though. He only needed some stitches.

No sympathy at all for the criminal none at all.

Even though I'm not a devil dog, I can give you an "oo-rah" to that.

I prefer the story as written. Don't give a damn how tall the curb was,or even if there was one.

It served the crook right. Too bad the old man is disturbed by it, but I say good riddance.

There was no curb and the criminal had no major injuries at all.

I don't know why you prefer the false story which clearly implied the marines beat someone into a permanent state of disability.

In the actual story the marines helped catch a criminal and acted with remarkable poise and restraint in detaining the criminal for the police. They were clearly men of high character as they apparently continued their charitable activities after getting stitched up.
