Hi guys, I just attended a coaches clinic with Terry Shea who just came off of (10) weeks working with Sam Bradford to get him ready for his pro day and the NFL draft.
He put on a great clinic on the development of a QB and the Play Action Pass offence.
He had some fantastic insights on players and coaches. Talk about the Walsh philosophy, Vermeil, Gonzales, getting Bradford, Stafford and Freeman ready for the combine.
He showed game film he had on teams he had coached and he had some game film on the last Bears vs. Cowboys meeting.
Just so that no one is shocked here...he talked about the safety #31 being the target for their play action series called 67 FOG. Then he showed a play where James bites up hard on the play action to Jones and they throw to the man Roy is covering.
He has a bunch of fundamental keys he tries to incorporate in his play action and one of them is called "distraction" for the safeties. The Roy play was his example of the "distraction".
Good stuff. In between the breaks I went to talk to him about QB stuff in general and we ended up back in the gym to discuss QB fundamentals and demonstrating the things he works on with all his client QBs.
I told him I was a Cowboys fan and he told me the loss to the Bears was a real bitter taste to his Turkey day. It was that season where he said they found this guy, Chad Hutchinson, off a surfboard somewhere and the season ended up with him being fired by Lovie Smith.
He said he wasn't a Lovie Smith fan. :laugh2:
Two years ago I met John Levra at the same clinic and he was a hoot. This guy was even funnier.
