FRISCO, Texas -- Finding continuity at the kicker position has evaded the Dallas Cowboys since Pro Bowler Dan Bailey, the franchise's all-time leader in made field goals (186), departed for the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 after seven seasons with Dallas (2011-2017). They have cycled through Brett Maher (2018, 2019, 2022), Kai Forbath (2019) and Greg Zuerlein (2020-2021) since, but it appears the Cowboys may have found their long-term future at the position with 28-year-old rookie Brandon Aubrey.

The league's record for most field goals without missing to start a career is 18, which was set back in the 2015 season by Cleveland Browns kicker Travis Coons. On Sunday, Aubrey's two made field goals during the Cowboys game against the Rams has him tied as the NFL's all-time record-holder. .... more on cbs

well, .. I will wait on pronouncing that as a finally find for a FG kicker.

I'll wait until Aubrey puts together back to back years ...and back to back several game winning clutch kicks under stressful pressure.
For whatever reason, FG kicker's confidence can go into a funk at any given moment and year.

I want to see his long term consistency first.

Maybe wait until he kicks a winning field goal, from 62 yards, with time expired in the Super Bowl, after making 32/32 all season long.

That’s when we will know … maybe

I thought a real gm would have signed a veteran. I read that on here.

Have you noticed anything about his kickoffs?

Too bad he’s already 28 years old…..
At least it's not a real big deal at that position. Unless soccer has taken a major toll on his body, he also doesn't have much wear and tear on his leg.

Exactly.

Not saying, even a bit, that Aubrey will have a great, and long, career, but kickers who are badass stay badass well into their thirties.

Age doesn’t make a huge difference for that position.

I wonder what happened to Coons. Don't remember him at all.

Anyways, great start for Aubrey
