What are some of your favorite autobiographies?

I haven't read too many autobiographies, but I've read lots of biographies.

Walter Isaacson is probably hands damn my favorite biographer. Just pick one if his books and you pretty much have a winner. He is just a fantastic biographer.

I haven't read his Steve Jobs, but I heard it's great too.

I've also read George Washington, Jefferson, and Truman.

I'm looking for a good Roosevelt biography too.

The Steve Jobs bio is Excellent! Put it on your must read list...

Paul Kimmage - A Rough Ride.

Autobio written by the guy "who spit in the soup" as the French say.

This is the book that exposed drug use in cycling written by an ex-pro turned journalist. Great read giving a great insight into pro cycling from the perspective of a good amateur who became a JAG pro. The book was never written to expose drug use and most of it isnt about this topic, but Kimmage was the first cyclist who didnt pretend it didnt exist.

P.S. he grew up a couple of streets from where I did, so I knew his family and some of the characters from his early life, which is interesting.

I’ve read several wrestlers biographies or autobiographies, it’s been so long I don’t remmeber the titles but most were pretty good.

-Mankind (Have a Nice Day); he’s got at least one or two more
-The Rock
-Ric Flair (To be the Man)
-Bret Hart (My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling) *this was my favorite of all the wrestlers books

-Stonewall Jackson (Rebel Yell) *some dry parts but phenomenal read, highly recommend (S.C Gwynn)
-George Washington (several and don’t remember the names)
-Theodore Roosevelt (book is at work, I’ll check the name for @YosemiteSam) it was pretty solid
-Ted Bundy, Gacy, Dahmer, etc.
-Sitting Bull, Custer, Crazy Horse
-Quanah Parker (Empire of the Summer Moon; good part is about the Comanches lifestyle; same author as Rebel Yell, S.C Gwynn)
-Wife just bought me a 3 book series on Abraham Lincoln I haven’t started yet

I’m an avid reader, about one book a week, sometimes more. I really wish I had kept track of every book I’ve read and rated them so apologies for the lack of information.

The book I was referring to is called Teddy Roosevelt: The Last Romantic by H.W Brands. It’s very comprehensive.

Depends upon your opinion of people of course but I very much enjoyed "Born standing up" by comedian Steve Martin.

Bootlegger's Boy by Barry Switzer is a great read. Unflailingly honest portrayal. Once A Cowboy by Walt Garrison is one of the funnier reads that I have had the pleasure of reading. Hail Mary by Drew Pearson was another excellent book. And, while not a complete autobiography, but more a glimpse at his experience as a Yankee, The Bronx Zoo by Sparky Lyle does a fantastic job of capturing the fishbowl experience that was playing for the Steinbrenner Yankees in the 1970s.

Read Frank Gifford's and Al Michaels autobiographies. Al is really a hilarious guy there.
