...would have taken being 8-6 and a very good chance at the playoffs going into the last 2 games in a second.

You give people a taste of success, they want more. They completely forget that this team has more starting/contributing rookies than any team in the NFL, or that they had the toughest second half schedule in football, etc.

As one poster stated, teams are evaluated over and over again week after week.

At 7-3, the fans should have been more optimistic and as Bill Parcells stated when he first took the job and talked to the players, "Get your expectations up".

August is August

December is December

Two totally different time periods

Some think, and perhaps rightfully so, that had we been 5-5 at one point and then made it to 8-6 it would be a lil diff deal.

thats why those predictions were made in august...

I don't think most fans are upset with the lost games, I am very glad to see this team at 8-6 with an outside (I wouldn't say a very good) chance at making the playoffs. I think most fans are upset with the way this team is losing. This team has showed ZERO emotion in losses to the Raiders, Giants and most recently, the dreaded Commanders. They came out flat in all lthree of those games and it just seems, to this fan at least, that they weren't very well prepared for those games. The games against the Giants and the Commanders should have been huge games for these guys since they were divisional positioning and ultimately a playoff berth.

Starting out at 7-3 gave fans hope for a brighter future, but in 2 of our last 3 losses the team showed no heart at all. I think the fans can stomach the losses, but showing no fire is something that I find difficult to understand.

Good point....suddenly I'm no longer disappointed with an inferior coaching job by parcells, being swept by the Skins, or wasting a 7-3 start by fading like gutless losers down the stretch....Wow...I actually predicted 8-8 because I didn't like our QB or LBs.

I should be thrilled. :bang2:

I said 12-4 with my blue/silver glasses on. I may be wrong, but most of the games we lost could easily be fixed in the offseason with some much needed upgrades especially on the OLine.

I do have to admit, Parcells as much as I don't care for his way of coaching, he (for the most part) has his team in position to win. Don't forget about kicker this offseason Billy.

Possibly, but it isnt August now is it? It's december, things change, welcome to the world.

If you had told us before the season that not only were the Commanders going to beat us in the last few minutes IN Dallas, and then blow us away in FedEx, I would have said that is a horrible season.

But what if I would have said that, along with saying... but we're also going to sweep Philly including beating them as badly as a team can beat another team in one of the games? ;)

Beginning of the season I thought we'd be 8-8.

If we go 10-6, or even 9-7, whether we make the playoffs or not, I still think that's a BIG improvement versus last year.

How many games did the kicker position cost us this year? The first Skins game? How about the Seattle game? I may be forgetting a game or two as well.

Next season we get Flo back, hopefully we sign a good veteran kicker, and our rookies from this season mature. All that's really missing is a FS (FA?), one more LB on defense (FA?) and one widebody NT. On offense, we can use some more talent on the OL, but that can easily be had via the draft. I believe this is supposed to be a good draft for OL, esp. OTs.

This is all do-able this coming off-season.

Even if we can just fix the OL and the kicker situation, we're probably a playoff team . . . .

It really doesn't matter what I thought at the beginning of the season.

The Cowboys were 7-3 and now they are 8-6..That sucks!
