Backup QB on the way? John Beck Seems like a good idea to me *Merge*

Beck has to be looked at as a long term project that will have to be developed slowly over time, because QB's from spread offenses have a pretty horrible track record in the NFL. There's Drew Brees on one side of the ledger, and 15 busts on the other side. I also heard from some people at the Senior Bowl that he doesn't exactly have a commanding presence in the huddle.

Maybe getting Beck (a 2nd rounder last year) for a low round pick is payback for the deals we gave them .....

Hmmmmmmm

Fasano/Ayodele was payback for letting Zack Thomas go. Parcells knew he had gas in the tank, but also knew he'd be about empty by the time Miami could field a winner. That was a quid-pro-quo if I've ever seen one.

If you keep three QBs you have to let Danny boy, Dowayne Davis, or Alan Ball go. I think Dowayne Davis is staying because of his ST play, considering Alan Ball is probably a better prospect down the road than Evan Oglesby they keep Ball. If they keep three QBs, then Danny boy will miss the cut. He doesn't have much upside than what he is displaying now. He will miss the cut baring bad WR injuries.

I cant say Ive seen more than 10 plays of the guy, but he had a high grade from a ton of teams so he must have something to him. And isnt he like 27?

Is there any pet player we can throw into a deal?

How bout Bobby??? (Burnett injury probably prevents this:mad: )

I have yet to see this upside out of Alan Ball so I don't see why he would stick around, especially over Ogelsby, a guy who actually makes plays.

Give me the playmaker over the prospect.

Not sure that's certain but it would be my guess as well. If Dallas is really interested then I like the fact they are looking down the road. I'd suspect that Beck would need this year and next to be ready for a #2 role but that's ok. Johnson likely would be ok with that. Not that he's got a choice but I'd rather he be helpful.

The fact that Bill would let him go does bother me but he's also in a building mode and has no patience with projects at QB. Unless he thinks they can play later on.

So right back to............if he's so good why is he available.

Ball is physically superior to Ogelsby in almost every way. If you always dumped raw talent for someone less talented but more polished, you would always have a substandard team. TO was extremely raw when the 49ers drafted him and look what he turned into. Romo was extremely raw too.

In the case of Ball and Ogelsby, that would probably be a huge mistake when you already have Henry, Newman, Pacman, Scandrick, and Jenkins ahead of both of them in the depth chart. If the guy isn't going to play anyhow, develop the better talent!!!

I remember plenty of talented athletes who couldn't play football.

The recently departed Jacques Reeves springs to mind. He was one of the team's fastest corners, but the guy couldn't play.

Again, I'll take the playmaker over the prospect.

You will kindly refer to him forevermore as...

Jacques "The Low Hurdle" Reeves.

Thank you.
