I'll be quick.

Can more of us gathered here show our maturity... that we've been here before, and we know how this movie goes... by resisting the urge to hype happy talk from people who, by virtue of their jobs, are not likely to provide you with actual insightful commentary on what is going on with the team... and by the same token, realizing that there also are people with big megaphones at their disposal who know they create more clicks and draw more attention, as they're able to be critical... ?

In other words... in everything... moderation. Not too high. Not too low. Understand the filters that have processed the word-food you've been given to consume.

Thank you.

Different personalities are going to have different perspectives. Some people are half glass full and some are half glass empty. Some tend to fall in the middle. I don't have an issue with people being overly positive or overly negative as long as they have valid reasons and valid arguments. We can't all think the same. Debate is good and in the end we all hope that the guy that is overly positive ends up being right because it is always fun when the team is winning (at least to some of us).

Lately I tend to approach every season with what I think is a very realistic outcome. My thinking this year is that we have a chance to make the playoffs but could also miss. I think it will end up being close. Last year my thinking was that we had a shot at the NFC East but most likely we would end up being 2nd in the division and play a road game in the first round. So i ended up being pleased with the outcome of the regular season despite the flaws that i saw in the Cardinals, Bills, 49ers, Seahawks games. Going into the playoffs my expectations were they would beat GB and probably lose in the 2nd round. That GB game was brutal because I never saw that train wreck coming. The entire coaching staff, and team laid the biggest egg that I have ever seen. I still can't believe McCarthy survived that game.

28 years and counting.

You were saying something about "doom & gloom"...

All of this is very easy. Some believe in regular season stats. Others believe in what has been achieved overall. With the Cowboys these two things paint completely different pictures. So they cause opposite opinions. Nothing wrong with that.

What's truly wrong on this forum are those people who think they define what a fan is. Or whether fans should be allowed to criticize players and staff. Who simply can't accept the fact that some people don't need more of the same. Personally I don't even care about NFCCGs anymore. With what these clowns are communicating all the time it should be Superbowl or bust every season. Yet their actions never follow their words.

So, be all the Dak fans you want. Celebrate the FO like there's no tomorrow. Call our head coach "great". Honestly, be my guest. But respect my opinion and it's place on this board, even if it's driven by scepticism. Just like I respect yours.

I appreciate your post.

What I wish happened more here is just some basic tolerance for differences of opinion. It still amazes me to no end that certain opinions that are critical of the team in any way are slammed as being “whiny”, and also certain opinions that offer a more hopeful or “positive” take are ripped for being “Pollyanna”.

On an opinion forum…

I like reading a variety of opinions here. Disagreement is what makes this engine go. As long as we respect another’s opinions, it’s all good. Couldn’t be any simpler.

This. And to make it clear, criticism is not hate. Not even when repeated a couple of times, or even permanently. And despite the two or three cage rattlers here most people just criticize. Heck the love for some players is also being one big parade coming up and down the street again for some people here. And that's ok. But accept the fact that some will rain on it.

The problem is that like with everything else these days the few on both extreme ends of the argument are setting the tone. Most other people just wanna talk about it.

In the end, we all want to see the Cowboys succeed.

So many one-year contracts on this team(coaches and players) tell the real story. Some people who post here seem to have their heads in the sand with this reality. This team is headed to a huge turnover of personnel if there is no deep run in the playoffs. Wake up, deniers!

Fan….short for fanatic. I take a more middle ground approach most of the time but when you have people so passionate about something, particularly something out of they’re control then you got wild highs and lows.

Is just part of being a sports fan. That way for all teams but for a team with this large of a fan base it’s magnified and even more hyperbolic on both sides.
