Based on talent, not W-L, the Cowboys today are the most talented since 1993

Allow me to start, me playmates.
I will take a flyer on this and say the obvious. 1993.

But going further back, SBNation makes a great case for 1977. Wow, lads, the raw power, agility and toughness of the 1977 squad.
The coaches and so many legends in the making.

Let me know when they start handing out "most talented" trophies.

Talent is measured in the playoffs by wins. If you don't get those wins you're just making excuses. Have we not had enough excuses the last 28 years?

If low red zone conversion percentage and inability to stop the run equals talent. This is the most talented team ever.

Oh. Well how do teams evaluate players in college? Or on other teams that don’t make the playoffs ?

This team is good but not even in the same league as the 92,93 teams. That team would be lapping the NFL right now.
Irvin, Harper, Kmart, Novacek, Jimmy Smith as an uknown, Moose Johnston, of course Troy & Emmit.
Do I need to go on?

Not a chance, the 93 team had basically two starting Defensive Lines that could rotate as needed, that's how deep the DL was then.
That fact alone sets them apart drastically.

Yea that 07 team was great and they still couldn't get it done
That is more the hallmark of what we are in the post JJ era. 2007 it was clear who the two best teams were and never showed up in that playoff game to an inferior team. Likewise, 2014 I think if not for the call in Green Bay we would have beaten Seattle and probably New England. It seems all of the teams were snakebit on that one. Green Bay got away with that call against us. Seattle had something similar on them and then NE got lucky at the end. Dak's first two playoffs the team had NO defense so there was no doubt we lose. I do blame Dak in large part for the past two years. I do think we could have beat SF but now it appears they are a better more physical team and we just don't know how to play against them.

In the offseason someone needs to do a deep dive on our piss poor run blocking and play design. All of the other teams, including bad ones, can run the ball and we can't. Also, our gimmicky stunting in obvious run situations is always exposed and we do nothing well up the middle in gap responsibility and run defense and that has been consistent over years. If not for those two failings, I would say we win it all. Goes back to fundamentals, can't run the ball and can't stop the run. That ALWAYS gets exposed in the playoffs.

this team is no where close to as talented as the 93 team or the 92 team. those teams not only were talented, but the talent was deep as many of our backups went on to become starters on other teams and stars of their own. those teams had 5 HOFers

I would say this is similar to 2007, 2010, 2014 team.

They lost to the eventual Super Bowl winner. What is probably the best SB win in the history of the NFL. A wildcard goes on the road and wins 3 games, two of those games against 13-3 teams, then beats a 16-0 team to win the SB. Yeah, a lot of playoff teams couldn't get it done.

Just in the 2007 playoffs alone there were probably 4-5 teams better than our current Cowboys team. Not just the Cowboys. Everything about our current Cowboys team is just wishful thinking, like Bland being a shutdown corner. Can we stop with that HS now?
