What we have is a competitive team that is one of the best in the NFC. Yes, there are a few flaws, but every team has flaws. Let's take a look at what went down yesterday:
1. Three teams won without scoring on offensive TD. One of those winning teams (Steelers) didn't score any TD's.
2. Two of our NFCE opponents are bad. The Giants were the only team to not hit double digits in scoring. The only reason the Giants aren't the worst team in the league is because the Panthers exist. If you want some LOL's read their Reddit and message boards. Washington's overall roster was destroyed by Riveria and will take years to rebuild. Both teams are mostly JAGS. How in the hell were some posters worried about Washington? Once again, it's us and the Eagles--and I have a feeling they aren't going away like they did last year.
3. Bengals lose to the Pats. Joe Burrow looks like he is falling into the overrated category due to inconsistency.
4. It took Josh Allen heroics to overcome Josh Allen turnovers to beat the Cards.
5. A number of teams showed that the running game is still here!
6. On another note, one of my brothers was in Brazil and attended the game. He was able to get on the field and was disgusted that the NFL would play a game on that field.
I will temper all this by saying that this was in reality more like the last preseason game for some teams-the teams that didn't play any starters.
Yesterday we beat a team that was battling injuries (#1 back, both starting tackles, and bad QB), but we put up 33 on last year's #1 defense. Yes, counting just the RB's and Dak, we only averaged 3.65 ypc on 20 carries. Dak wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination. But we won. In years past this game would have been a nail biter or even a loss. Our rookie LT looks like a player! Martin is sadly looking his age, though still a good player.
Let's see what things look like after week four. I believe we are in for a fun season.
