This duo has to be the worst I've ever seen at LB defending the run. And this is not just simply a result of bad DT play. Watch them on every running play, They look like they have never been coached on how to run fit. Yes I know Bell is learning a new position. But this is the NFL! What are we doing??? This is the best the team can put together at LB?? They've had 10+ weeks since the LVE injury to fix the position. These guys make Ernie Sims look like Dick Butckus.

Dan Quinn is the problem. Stubborn man is another Rod Marinelli with wanting "lighter" hybrid type of players up front who can't stop the run. He picks his LBs the same way. Speed over size and strength, yet that speed and quickness always end up lacking against good running teams.

It’s not Bell’s fault that he isn’t a LB. He’s a little over 200 lbs and it was always a matter of ‘when’ teams would take advantage of his size. Ideally he replaces Wilson or Kearse next year. Clark on the other hand is beyond redeemable.

Bell is a safety. Quinn was too stubborn to put an actual LBer back there.
Been saying that almost all season. Hurt us today. Stubbornness smh.

IDK how we didn't see we had issues stopping the run with these safeties at linebackers. It just doesn't work. Yet we kept doing it and did nothing to change it.

but they are “versitile” and that is all quinn and mccarthy care about for some reason

a stupid reason but it make sense since they are both stupid

It may actually work if the players had the instincts to play the position. Not only are these guys small, they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Just brutal...

Clark and Bell shouldn't have been in the situation. McClay n DQ should've fixed this before it was a problem those young LBs did their best, and they shouldn't have been depended on by the Organization.

Definitely can't blame Bell, he's an undersized safety asked to play MLB.

And I don't blame Damone Clark as a 2nd-year player and playing as the ONLY LB for much of the season. When the "other LB" is a safety, it's going to be a challenge for the sole LB to make plays consistently.

The front 7 (or did we even have 7???, maybe it was the front 6), they just couldn't stop the run consistently enough, for obvious reasons. And stubborn Dan Quinn didn't put 9 and 10 in the box often enough. Hec, why didn't Quinn use more 5-man lines like Green Bay did on 1st down. Nope. Not creative enough, too obstinate.
